AaratrikaAaratrika (905) ![]() Reality Shows Should Be CurtainedPosted Tuesday, September 01, 2009 (68 days 16 hours ago.) Viewed 6 times. Reality shows ! yes that must be the most watched telecasts on tv. Why not? When they are showing drama and emotions of people on the stage especially movie stars. This has specially attracted the youth. They become mad behind these trash shows. But never know that what they are watching are completely useless. Reality shows are just ways of the producers to make money. Let me talk about an article I just read a month back. I am sure all of us are familiar with the reality show Indian idol . the winner of this show was promised contracts by many great composers during the show. But once the show got over there was nothing. No composers no proposals and no contract. The contestant had worked hard for winning the show and had high hopes but all his hopes were shattered after the show got over. Now he is just among common men like us. He dint receive any stardom which he was promised. Reality shows make immense promises to the contestants but fail to fulfill all of them. Nowadays most of the youth run towards these shows as they give name and fame . some of them even leave schools and colleges to participate. But they don't understand that just for seeking a bubble reputation they are wasting their valuable study time. Time which will prove to be more important in their lives. But they become crazy and are unable to control. And when faced with failures often come to different immoral activities and even suicides. Not only the common reality shows but also the celebrity reality shows are nonsense. They just picture cheap drama on screen and fool people with their emotions. And people waste thousands of money smsing and calling these shows to save their favourites. These shows not play with people's emotions but also divert the youth from their studies. They shut off people's mind and reduce their capacity to think. Our youth of today is the future of tomorrow . so why allow some cheap shows to exploit them? Let us all urge together to stop watching these reality shows and gainfully employ the time before it overtakes the minds of people completely. Reality shows have changed people from an irresistible force to an immovable object. So why waste time? Do it now or never before its too late. People often treat small children like hangers just because they cannot protest or say things which adults might. So people feel that appointing such innocent little ones at work will benefit them as they can be paid less for more work. Also children have more enthusiasm and energy than adults so they can work for longer hours even with less income. Children need love, especially when they deserve it. parents give birth to a child thinking that they are contributing an important asset for the country's future but there are some parents who give birth not to give the child a future but to enrich their own future. Children are gift of god. Some children of rich parents get everything in abundance where as some children of poor parents do not get even the basic necessities. Why this discrimination when god has created both of them with equal qualities? Its only the luck of the poor child which decides its fate for the future. Thousands of children around the world specially in underdeveloped and developing countries have child labour . Child labour takes the child away from its childhood. Children are one third of our population and all of our future. The child labour does not allow the child to live a normal life as other children. They become mechanical and are also deprived of many things which are important for them like education, sports etc. education is the most powerful weapon. A person not educated has no dignity or prestige in the society. An uneducated man is as lame as a sheep. Not educating children by appointing them for child labour is one step towards the country's fall. Children are our future. And it is our responsibility to take care of them so that they make the country more progressive. Most of the times girls are bigger victims of child labour. Even now in many parts of the world people consider girl children waste and consider it better to employ them in some sort of daily work so that their brothers can be educated and the family can benefit. They are also vulnerable to trafficking and prostitution. Not only female even male children are a part of child labour. Most of the times they are sent to hazardous workplaces like railways and mines where they work for hours but are paid extremely less. Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see. So to make the coming time more vibrant and progressive it is important that we take care of the resource-----Children. There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million. Children are like wet clay which can be molded in anyway we like. So just like how a potter moulds a clay into a beautiful pot ,parents should also mould their children with good values and habits and make them good citizens as the past can't see you, but the future is listening.
Permalink Comments (2) Homework Should Not Be AbolishedPosted Friday, July 10, 2009 (121 days 5 hours ago.) Viewed 226 times. Mary : Wow! Jacob . How did you manage to score such high marks? Jacob : Well , Hardwork is the key to success but I will say that homework have helped me a lot for the exams. Mary : Homework ? Are you serious ? Jacob : Yes , my friend. Homework has helped me to revise the lessons taught in class and also find out my difficulties and doubts. As you know practice makes a man perfect and homework has given me that practice. Mary : I never thought homework was so useful . anyways thanks for telling me . now even I will do my homework regularly. This is how homework can benefit us! Should homework be abolished? It is very easy to answer yes' to the above question, especially when one is loaded with homework up to the neck. However I will not say that homework should be abolished. It is useful in many ways, I will say that homework should be given discreetly. If the volume of homework is manageable then they can be done efficiently and quickly. In this way we do learn from our labour. If the homework is overwhelming then we learn nothing expect that we are simply fed up. I believe then that we should not abolished homework completely. The best thing to do is for the teacher to seriously consider the student's welfare before any homework is given. Homework should be aid the student to learn not do the opposite. Homework look like food, if taken in moderate quantities, it nourishes, but if taken in excessive amount, it might kill person. School without homework is not an image I can fathom. There are many reasons homework should not be abolished as it is beneficial towards the student, allows the teacher to acknowledge the student's weaknesses; in turn giving them an opportunity to improve and acquire new skills. Also, taking time each night to do homework is a chance for students to catch up on missed class and further reinforces the day's lessons so it is permanently etched in the student's mind where the information is stored and used when called upon. Several studies have proven that homework, in fact, does improve the stability of the student in school; this strengthens the statement that time spent completing homework is time well spent. Rather than giving students another hour of leisure time, doing homework entitles the student to an hour of enriched education; this can greatly benefit the student, as consistently finishing homework will reap great rewards such as a favourable test score or report card. Why are we posing such a ludicrous question about the possible abolishment of homework if doing homework is what it takes to succeed in school? It is a common emotion to students regarding the distaste of homework, but legions of teachers know better because they recognize the importance of homework in the success of students in school and outside of school. Not only does home work accomplishment benefit the student, it also benefits the teacher as well. Teachers receive the opportunity to see at what stage the student is by assigning homework. Furthermore, the teacher can identify the weaknesses of the student so they can ameliorate their study habits in hopes of pulling their grades up. On the other hand, if teachers were to abandon the idea of homework altogether, they would have to base the majority of the student's mark on tests alone. However, students fare much better in the homework column than the test column; otherwise, their marks would be lower than they currently are.... We had decided about the match earliar.. Ann : Yeah, I know but teacher has suddenly given us the maths assignment as homework today and wants us to complete it by tomorrow. If not then we will get remarks and will also be punished! Susan : Oh I see ! Ok then I guess you should go back to your work. I will see you later. This is how homework spoils pre planned events . Homework: We all have it, we all hate it. There seems no way to avoid the extra work we bring home from school every evening. Or is there? What happens when you use electronic devices for a excessive period of time? It overheats. That is what happens with our brain. The point of homework is to increase the knowledge and improve the abilities and skills of the students. But reality is at odds with that. Kids get off from school late in the afternoon, anytime after is mostly spent doing homework and studying. Kids are very active after school, whether its spending time with family and friends, practicing a sport, or just playing . Kids are suppose to practice and learn in a classroom, and study what they have learned at home. But doing the same thing a thousand times is a bit much, because does doing fifty math questions accomplish more than doing five? Memorizing words is not the best way to increase vocabulary- especially if reading does a better job. So what is better? Quantity of education, or the quality of education? Eliminating homework will make kids happier in class, therefore more productive. Because if kids have afternoons free of work, then there is no excuse that they should slack off during school. Right from the moment we start primary school, we are given additional work to do at home. Whether it be reading a book or learning times tables, from the first year at school we are set some form of homework. And as we grow older, so the pile of homework grows on our desk. Most junior school children are set spellings and times tables for testing once a week, plus additional work for over the weekend. Once secondary school arrives, this changes to a couple of different subjects per evening, quite often due in the next day. It seems too much. With the average school day consisting of five hours of lessons, plus lunch breaks and assemblies, we are in education for over half of our waking hours. Then, just when you think it's time to go home for a rest, to watch television or hang out with friends, the reality hits - all this has to make way for homework. Let's face it, how many teenagers actually like school because of the education aspect? To insist, then, that they must continue learning at home seems unfair and unjust. Home life and school life should be distanced. After all, isn't that what teachers say when they catch students playing on their PSPs under their desks? Teachers claim that homework is set because there isn't enough class time to complete the designated syllabus. Of course, there is the argument that homework enriches our learning, and enables us to do things unfeasible in the classroom. This is true - indeed, many tasks involving computers are better undertaken in the student's own home, and with suitable parental assistance. Yet there are ways to cheat on homework tasks, which the teacher will rarely recognise, and as such, will not know the areas in which students are failing. Not everyone does their homework, and the majority of such students are punished by detentions, taking even more free time out of their day. Nowadays, students can not indulge in any activities other than those included in their school syllabus. School takes up half of the day, while the other half is wasted on homework. Students can only take a short nap after their school, and then start completing their homework. Homework is done when it's nearly time for bed, and Mom starts telling them to go to sleep. Weekends, instead of bringing fun, bring a diary full of test schedules, and a sleepless night plus a tense day. Thus, homework is more of a burden than any help to the students. Keeping this in mind, anyone can come to the conclusion that homework should be abolished. To compensate the loss, school hours can be increased. It may also help if only four or five periods are held in class, so that students can understand and memorize the lesson then and there. In this way, students can spend appropriate time on study, and the remaining time on other healthy activities like Sports, Reading , and Writing etc. This will also give time to students to spend with their family. To conclude, homework should be abolished, but steps should be taken to compensate the loss. In this way we might also see many budding sports persons, writers etc who will bring pride to their families and their nation too. Permalink Comments (4) |
