14 Tried and True Gas Savers, Tips
hct from florida: (61 days 5 hours ago.)
......also, filling your tank is not really a good idea. More fuel means more weight.......u have to carry the weight of the fuel u have in your tank....striking a compromise between the weight and how often u have to go to a gas station might be the best solution....maybe between a half to three fourth.
hct from florida: (61 days 5 hours ago.)
ground temp is not affected by daily temp.....ground temp at the level of a gas station fuel tank takes months to change and for the most part is pretty constant year round....that's why they have perma-frost. Gas doesn't evaporate in your gas-tank....if it did, you could not leave your car parked for any extended period....u would come back to an empty tank. most of us know that if u go away for 2 weeks and then come back, the gas tank in your car is at the same level as when u left.
11 Tips On How to Avoid Injuries While Working Around the Home

Marilyn, these are great tips for around the house or place of business. We recently painted and your tip number 6 is a good one. After a day of using a roller while on a ladder leaves you sore if you overreach.

Funny Stuff Can Still Just Be Stuff; 6 Tips that Can Help
Comment by April Lorier (4,522) April Lorier (99 days 7 hours ago.)

Marilyn, there's not room enough here to share all the thoughts this article evoked, but I'll give you the Reader's Digest Version. There is a book called, "My Brother's Keeper" that's about 2 brothers who died buried under their "stuff". A friend gave it to me after I almost killed myself cleaning out my mother's "stuff" while planning a funeral. It opened my eyes to a serious mental disorder my mother had, and I have tried - Lord knows I've tried! - not to let "stuff" accumulate in my house! One trick I learned is... put whatever I feel I want and have to have in my shopping basket. Keep on shopping, and before I hit the checkstand, put the unnecessary things back where they belong: on the shelf! I "owned" it for the time I was in the store, and that relieved the "compulsion" of gotta-have-it-now! I've taught it to my daughter, and she is clutter free.
Now, the "stuff" that collects in my house is all paper! A writer accumulates paper every day, and now I find it to be just as much of an entrapment as the other "stuff" I used to collect! HELP!
An excellent article, written with great creativity and wit, and thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you very much!
Marilyn from Bountiful, Utah: (99 days 19 hours ago.)

Hannah, you make me smile. Congratulations on reducing your 'stuff'. It isn't always easy to do as we are so accustomed to having it around us. Keep up your good work!
Marilyn :)
Hannah Quinn from Australia: (100 days 6 hours ago.)

Marilyn,
How very true! As a person with 'stuff' I can truly relate to your advice. I'm gradually reducing my 'stuff' though because it does create extra work, especially during cleaning, so time to reduce - again. If only this time, I don't go and buy up more 'stuff'!!!
Cheers, Hannah

Some very interesting (and not well known facts). Thanks for the great tips, Marilyn. We need all the help we can get--we're certainly not getting it from the oil companies or their constituents. Great article. Sandra.
jennifer cuddy: (108 days 5 hours ago.)

good advice! and yet i still implore us all to investigate the hidden truths behind the rise in costs. connect the dots! it's truly criminal, and these criminals must be exposed and brought to justice.
and yet, i am in full agreement to finding and implementing alternatives to oil. but this process is a very long one. how long can we continue to pay these costs and also pay all of our other bills, whithout furthering our mounting debts?
thank you for your efforts to help relieve us from these burdens!
Marilyn from Bountiful, Utah: (107 days 23 hours ago.)
Jennifer, I wish those in power would do something to help us consumers. This has been an ongoing problem for years. I remember the fuel crisis and long lines at the gas pumps years ago. (Was that the 80's)? How time flies. Since I don't see any relief in site from the politicians I have to do all I can do to save money at the pump. Thank you for your comment

How To Survive Your Family Beach Vacation Road Trip
Comment by Lorrie Davids (5,276) Lorrie Davids (121 days 9 hours ago.)

Excellent tips, Marilyn! My kids were young before the advent of DVD players so we substituted travel games. We spent many hours calling out where we saw each letter of the alphabet for the "ABC game". And singing; we sang a LOT! Thanks for reminding me of some great times with my family.
Comment by Marilyn Bohn (1,049) Marilyn Bohn (113 days 16 hours ago.)
LM, Thanks for your comment. I think it is better to sing and play games with the kids than it is to turn their brains off with movies. But then on a long trip doing both would bring sanity to the parents.

Great information, Marilyn. When my kids were small, there was not much variety. Now with all the colors, bells and whistles, you have provided parents with the facts to choose the car seat that is the best.

Good information, Marilyn. I remember there is a code used by manufacturers called the Julian code. Years ago, I knew how to read it and determine if a product was still good. I remember it was pretty easy, but I don't remember what the code was. Do you have any information or resources for the Julian code?
Organizing Desk Drawers
Comment by April Lorier (4,522) April Lorier (189 days 16 hours ago.)

OK, Marilyn. Have you been peeking through my drawers? I am the daughter of a master pack rat, and am carrying on the legacy. It drives my kids crazy. I like to watch "Clean This House" on HGTV, but rarely do I jump up and organize a drawer! ha! You're right, though. Once I do just get up and do it, I feel more in control of my life. It's a good feeling!
Well written and interestingly presented, drawing the parallel between yoga and organizing. Well done!
Response from Marilyn Bohn (1,049) Marilyn Bohn : (171 days 13 hours ago.)
April, I had to chuckle when you said your mother is a master pack rat. I had never heard that before. (I think I will use that in one of my blogs). I enjoyed your comment. I have never seen "Clean This House". I'll check to see when it is on and watch it. Good luck on getting the bug to 'jump up and organize a drawer'--if that is what you want to do.
Thank you for your comment :)
