Talking With God
Comment by Judi Lake (2,583) Judi Lake (15 hours 13 minutes ago.)

David, as with Robert, I've seen a very kind and caring soul in you. I think the Lord is proud of His David and is very happy with this piece; you did well! God bless you!
Comment by David Tanguay (5,770) David Tanguay (14 hours 12 minutes ago.)
Well Judi, I don't believe God is proud of me. I do have a close relantionship with him. however what I acomplished in the past was all his will. Without his help, I dare not think what kind of world we would be living in today.
robert melaccio sr.: (1 day 17 hours ago.)

David in you I see a kind heart and a caring one. In your talks with God you are acknowledging Him. That is all He ever asked of us. I suspect many with educations, positions, wealth, power, will never know what you do. Peace to you always and the next time you talk with Him, put a word in for me. I'll do the same for you. All the best,
Comment by David Tanguay (5,770) David Tanguay (1 day 16 hours ago.)
Thank you Mr. Melaccio, yes I'll put in a good word for you. Thanks for commenting

Thanks for sharing, David. Some have suggested that intuition is God's way of talking to us. Intuition is a spiritual ability. All we have to do is listen.
Comment by David Tanguay (5,770) David Tanguay (1 day 19 hours ago.)
Thanks Jim, yes I believe intuition is a way God gets through to us.

Does Anybody Really Care?
Comment by Ken McCreless (673) Ken McCreless (10 days 4 hours ago.)

Hey David, did you hear about the guy taking a survey? He asked one lady which was worse, ignorance or apathy. She replied "I don't know and I don't care! Good job.

I heard that somewhere Ken, I can't remember where.
Comment by Steve Radford (765) Steve Radford (10 days 12 hours ago.)

Thought provoking piece David.
Sometimes I wonder if indifference is a disguise for helplessness. A person may care deeply but feel powerless to change the situation. So they just stop trying.
Comment by David Tanguay (5,770) David Tanguay (10 days 5 hours ago.)
That's true Steve, there's an old saying. "If you can't like them join them" sometimes indifference is the norm in everyday living.

Comment by Jennifer Cuddy (1,038) Jennifer Cuddy (10 days 15 hours ago.)

yes, i think that apathy is very much the state of mind of our nation's youth. nobody is getting involved anymore. music and art emerging from the current generation is certainly not reflecting any political or ethical introspection. it's very sad. good article.
Comment by David Tanguay (5,770) David Tanguay (10 days 15 hours ago.)
Yes Jennifer, I don't know if your old enough to remember the 60s. The young, i.e. the rebellious in those days did care about what was going on then. I don't know what happened to that generation. Today's young are different than those flower children of the 60s.

No, not yet -- life is still spinning but thank God Gary found a decent job in Charleston which, ironically, is only 2 hours from where we presently live -- he's moving today and the next 6 weeks will find Laura and I going back and forth moving things into our new home until she completes the third grade. Thanks for asking!

hi david, very true, every vote counts. this was a well written poem, poetry is an art in itself, and fun to read, especially when it makes sense! this is such a monumental year, to go down in History, either a woman president, who is married to a former president, or a black president. that's one for the history books.

hi david ,
this quote: "WE cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future"
is what i have been trying to do for the last 22 years of my life. trying to prepare 3 kids how to handle adversity and responsibility, respect, and how to know what's wrong and right, etc. i love the quote. i've never heard it before. thanks for introducing it to me. very well written, and oh, so true, on all counts.

hi david, so true. when i thought about "Why is it so hard to accept a complete stranger as a friend?" i realized that back in the 70's, i made 3 friends, who were complete strangers, in a time when that didn't matter, and they are all still my best friends today. trust is an important thing, if you are lucky enough to find it. thanks for a good article, best regards, sue

Comment by Michael Kocis (1,061) Michael Kocis (49 days 23 hours ago.)

Wow...wouldn't that all be beautiful. Two things that stand out (for me anyhow) "All men are created equal" well maybe at the moment of birth or more likely "in the eyes of God."
Sounds pretty doesn't it...all men ...equal. Hell even the guys who wrote it didn't believe it or didn't understand it. They had black slaves, only land owners could vote, and there was probably more, more that's enough for now.
Talk with our enemys, some of them O.K. sure that might work reasonable folks talk'n it out, again sounds good, could work. What about the ones sworn to their God to destroy all that are not like them ?
Wait...first you'd have to believe that's even true. Let's see...goofy enough to strap a bomb on your a$$ and blow up yourself & other people ...yep. I believe it.
There are some people you can't "talk" to, not me or you Dave, or a President, not their mommies or daddies cause they are well..."Crazy."
Response from David Tanguay (5,770) David Tanguay : (49 days 22 hours ago.)
True Mike our constitution had flaws in it, President Lincoln pointed this out in his most notable speech “The Gettysburg Address” and true we are equal biologically but not by the essence of our nature. The melting pot is how all of us the good and the bad are blended into one being by our laws. I still believe we could negotiate with our foe, every man’s actions has its motives behind them. Calling them crazy isn’t the way to get through to them.

Good article yet if you will consider this, I think it is not fed up with our form of government just how it is being applied and who is applying it, all of them. There is no other government founded on the principals you just expressed for the "Common Good'. It really is simple and we need no long legal explanation just common sense. If it is wrong why do it? Simple. PS Get out an vote and take a few friends with youa nd give them all the boot. Send a message!Good job RTM
