A Call to Honor Motherhood as a Career
sue thom from nj: (118 days 16 hours ago.)

hi ruth, "only a mother knows" there's no way to explain what a stay at home mom does, unless you are one. it's not 9-5, it's constant. my biggest pet peeve is people thinking that stay at home moms "do nothing." i've done it for 23 years now, and my kids' father was away for 2 weeks, home for 2, when they were babys, and 1 week on and off until we separated last year. even the courts looked down on me because i "didn't work." it's funny, the washer and dryer don't shut off at 5, nor does the kitchen close down.
thanks for a good article,
best regards,
sue thom
Universe to You: Get the Message?
Comment by Teresa Ortiz (5,005) Teresa Ortiz (149 days 17 hours ago.)

Hi Ruth. This is a great article! Good job on sharing this information. We need the reminder. Most us respond to situations like this with "What's their problem?" Instead of "They must be having a bad day" and have compassion on them. Or as you say, we don't think that they were put in our path to teach us a little something. I get the message loud and clear :-) Thanks again, keep sharing! Blessings to you, Teresa

Thank you so much for your comment on my article. And thank you, too, for mentioning "compassion" for those who might be having a bad day. I once read a piece of advice that's stayed with me: a reminder that just about anyone you meet has a great challenge or struggle or sadness in some aspect of their lives. I find that remembering this helps me to be more understanding and open-minded toward people who I might otherwise view negatively.

Ruth,
Great article. As Alan Watts has said, "Staying open to the truth wherever it may be found" is liberating and powerful. Thank you for reminding me to listen and learn.

Great article; some very good ideas, Ruth. I hope Mr. Keith reads your article, maybe he won't have so many "Mrs. Munsons" ruining his work day.
Just kidding, Mr. Keith.
Good article. Keep up the good work.

Very good article I leave you with a quote from Thomas Jefferson

This is a very encouraging article (as well as being well written) and gives me hope for the future of America. Sometimes, if you listen too much to the media (we try not to do that too often), it seems that we are going to hell in a hand basket, as they say.
I've always believed that change has to take place at the level of the individual and that the variety of people visiting your Wawa are being so courteous to one another is wonderful. Thanks for this lovely article.
Managing Time and Stress Over the Holidays
Comment by Sandra E. Graham (1,879) Sandra E. Graham (157 days 15 hours ago.)

Great article. I totally agree. Although, I have always been a work-at-work-and-work-at-home mom, stresses of holiday decorating and entertaining have been almost too much to bear. But, I guess I'm stronger than I realized, as I have made it all these years without blowing any fuses.
Bless you.
