I have an HP LaserJet 1320 that has a horizontal line running down the left side, about 1/3 of the way across the page. The drum has been cleaned multiple times due to this problem, and it clears it right up, but now it's occuring more frequently. Any suggestions or solutions?

J.W. from VA: (18 days 19 hours ago.)
Also, it's not so much a line printed on the paper, it's more a lack of ink. It's faded gray, but the rest of the printed page is standard black.

Hi, I have 3 re-manufectured toners I bought from eBay and they all have the 54.1 "Plastic Stripe" error. Reading your article noticed that it could be the contact of the senor bar and the end plate. Is there a quick fix for this problem? Thanks!

Thank you for the tip on "54.1 Remove sealing tape from toner cartridge" error! It was driving me nuts! HP says to remove the sealing tape... DUH! The little metal bar was dislodged. I just had to tuck it back into place and good-to-go!

My HP 940c continues to blink indicating ank ink problem. I have tried replacing the cartridges and doing everything the real-time chat guy suggested and it still isn't successful. Any suggestions?
Response from Motivational Marketer (1,347) : (1 year 99 days ago.)
If your indicator light keeps blinking on your HP 940c printer, it's possible you have a problem with the carriage, where the cartridges sit and lock in. It sounds to me, from personal experiece like an internal mechanism problem. Here's what I suggest you do.... One, if you replaced the ink, making sure they are secured fasten in the carriage, turn off your printer for 3 minutes and turn it back on. You might even have to take the power adapter out from the back of the printer. Two, hold the paper button next to the cancellation button for about 3-5 seconds until a test page prints out. Sometimes if you do this, it will reset the cartridge recognition which is communicated by the printers firmware. Three, see if the cartridges are defective, possible the printheads are damaged and the printer is reading them as non-responsive. If you're still having problems, then I suggest upgrading your printer because to fix the carriage it can cost up to $100. For that, you mine as well invest in a new inket printer. Let me know how you make out and if I can help you any further. Hope this advice helps. Best of luck!

Yes, there should be a release in the rear of the multi-function device. The back panel has a lever that turns for you to remove the palstic piece and see the actual paper jam. It will allow you to pull the paper out from the back-side. Don't tug on the jammed paper too hard, yet be firm and apply force in your direction. I've experienced this problem several times and it's worked for me. If you attempt to remove the paper from the front-side, the paper may just break off and be more frustrating than the initial jam. Let me know how you make out. You're welcome.

My printer/copier/fax is a Hewlitt-Packard 7110 series. A sheet of paper is really jammed tight ... cannot move it forward or backward. Is there a release somewhere on the machine that I can use? Thank you ..

PCR stands for Primary Charge Roller. It is the rubber roller inside the toner cartridge. It purpose is to evaluate and determine the accurate measurement of conductivity based on the leakage of toner that gets dispersed onto the paper before it travels through the other components inside the cartridge such as the OPC drum.

Finally, someone has written an article that says something. After searching for over an hour, I finally found step-by-step instructions with no chatter. Thank you, Joseph Mercado, for writing this. Only suggestions: Describe to readers "doctor blade". Instruct how to take off plastic axles: pry off carefull with wide blade screwdriver. Plate cannot be pushed in with pointer finger 3/16in hole, use small screwdriver When using a screwdriver to "tighten" felt seals, say "roughen slightly".

You can find an electrical circuit tester through a company called Static Control Components. They will be able to supply you with the part as long as they have it available.

Hello Dan, The fade on the page depends where the fade is taking place. Is it on the left side, straight down the middle or to the right? Also, can you see a line with that fade? It sounds to me like the drum is wearing or needs to be replaced. There are other components which coincide with the drum such as the wiper blade which may need to be changed as well. The lining of the fade will determine such symptoms. Changing the drum and wiper blade can help cure your fading problem.

Whe the test print starts out normal and then fades away what would cause this.

Thought article was useful, but was somewhat surprised by the final 6 or 8 sentences. Self-esteem apparently not a problem for the author, though the quality of his writing degenerates noticeably once he strays from technical matters.
Response from Motivational Marketer (1,347) : (2 years 8 days ago.)
Hi Frank, I would like to take a moment out and thank you for your constructive advice towards me as a writer. Although that information was part of resource box, looking at your point of view, the advice was quite helpful. Thanks Frank! :)
