Tips to Writing a Fantasy Novel that’s different and unique Matt Turpin from Plainfield, CT: (27 days 11 hours ago.)  I've been trying for ages to write a fantasy novel myself. I recently teamed up with an illustrator friend of mine, and my enthusiasm has been rejuvenated. I just wanted to write to say that it was a relief to find someone of repute on the internet who was writing what I wanted to read. As I've been writing, I've been doing an equal amount of research on the internet for tips on novel writing, and on what to expect if I get to a publishable state. I've been writing largely as this article promotes. I just want to be different. My software proofreader hates me. My friends think I'm crazy. I've never had more fun writing. Its good to know that people can be successful being different. For what it's worth, I've been going for a sort of Alice in Wonderland meets Dr. Seuss style fantasy craziness. I was worried that not following all of the rules would be a detriment, but breaking them is so much fun. I just wanted to give this article two thumbs up for motivation to be crazy. He allows his stories go wherever they need to go." I can't tell you how many writer friends I have that are petrified at the thought of going outside their usual genre! Personally, I think that would be terribly boring. My last book is very heavy, but I spend far more time writing happy poetry. (See "Abandonment and The Dancing Bride" as an example.) I also love writing lyrics along with my musical compositions, and I love writing parables (sort of devotionals but with a twist). I met a poet once at a writers' conference and she said artistic people HAVE to be diverse in order to keep the creative juices flowing.
