Jerry Aragon has been in the business of humor since he was eleven years old. He has always enjoyed making people laugh, whether it be by telling a joke writing an anecdote carving a piece of wood or building a humorous website, etc.
Jerry devoted more than 20 years to the art of wood carving. In the round figures of animals and human figures were his specialty...cartoon-like figures always trying to make people laugh!
Over that 20 year period, he carved over 200 different, original wood carvings and most of them were captioned. From these captions on the wood pieces, came the writing of the descriptions of how the ideas for the wood pieces came about, and any problems connected with them, etc.
One day, he was invited to join the Southwest Writer's Workshop, by the then President of the organization, Eileen Stanton, who is one of New Mexico's top witers. She has published more than 5,000 articles in some of the top magazines and newspapers in the country! Southwest Writers, with over 1,000 members all over the country, has some of the most talented and accomplished members anywhere. And, as you might imagine, Jerry was honored by the invitation! Later, and in his (40's) he took and completed several writing courses to improve on his writing skills which included: Writer's Digest Writing Course The National Writers Club Course and a creative writing course at the University of New Mexico.
