I've been fascinated with learning about spiritual possession for quite a while. I don't know if everyone has seen the show the Ghost Whisperer, but there is an episode this friday that's all about possession.

Information on the family who lived in the Nissan Cammando home is not quite accurate. The son died in 1917, the father in 1930 (I believe) and the daughter and her family, who no longer lived in the house but in another part of France, were arrested by thre Germans and sent to their deaths in the concentration camps during WWII

I must confess I read the article twice to get the full gist. I found that the only way I was able to learn Spanish (I'm still a novice) was by a visual program. I also taught my kids when they were ready to take their SAT's with visual cards. I did not read Dan Vandon's book, but I do believe that some of his technique that you have described in his book have worked for me and my family. Great Job Kimberly

Exploring Panama As A Romantic Getaway

Hello! The article would have been useful - had I found it before my voyage. Because of my interest in canals I visited Panama 2008-01-13 - 01-15. The roads were good but I found it difficult to find my way from Tucumen Apt thru Panamá C to Miraflores because of lack of signs. Also, I do not agree with "most Panamanians speak some English". Neither policemen nor the AVIS officer (when I collected my car) did speak English. On the other hand: All people I talked to (or tried to) were extremely kind and helpful - that will stay in my memory! Best regards! Erik F

I am the author of this book. Norm told me he gave my book five stars so I wanted to make sure that those reading his book review are aware that the stars rating below my book title are people's ratings of his review rather than my book. Of course I am biased, but personally, I think Norm's review was excellent. I hope you like the book too!

Review: The Last Schoonerman: The Remarkable Life of Captain Lou Kennedy
Barbara & Ed True from Naples, Florida 34102: (258 days 5 hours ago.)
Reader Rating 5 out of 5
I've know Brian Kenedy and his wife Barbara for many years. Throughout those years, Brian told me many wonderous stories about his Dad. And, of the many adventureous years, in his youth, being spent as one of his Dad's many deck hands. When the life of Brians father was published this past Dec., I couldn't wait to read it. The book kept me captive for several hours, forgoing both lunch and dinner to finish reading it. In turn, I purchased 4 more copies and gave them to friends as Christmas presents. I had previously read the book "Adventure" about the life of Capt. Jim Sharp and the old Gloucester fishing schooner Adventure. His too is a great story, but Captain Lou Kenedy is the epitomy of the true definition of "Old Salt" in every respect. I feel as though I got to know him personally through his son Brians stories, but how I wish that I could have met this outstanding adventureous captain in the flesh.

Hi, interesting article. I am a dream analyst myself (amongst other things) I find I can interpret very well for people I have never met (over the web) with NO personal details at all and only the contents of the dream to go on. I take the dream elements and consider what they mean in a metaphorical sense rather than a literal sense and thus far have not been wrong. It is an interesting subject.

Review: Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents
kasia from new york city: (333 days 6 hours ago.)
Reader Rating 5 out of 5
I wasn’t sure what to expect upon my first encounter with this book since I’m used to watching nature shows on TV and rarely get to read about them. This book turned out to be a wild and fascinating adventure of a married couple traveling though the seven continents, commenting on many steps of their journey with sharp eye for the tiniest details that made for a marvelous book. Marty Essen shows his deep talent for writing, his witty comments and jokes; descriptions of the people, places, even their dogs that went with them to Canada were so entertaining that I never knew what was coming up next. This isn’t some boring nature book but a delicious seven course meal of the highest caliber. The book is easy to read yet is chock full packed with incredible information that can only be witnessed by the person who actually went to those places and experiences the cold, the hot and dangerous spots that hold so much allure to all of us. First leg of the trip was Belize, located on the Caribbean Sea where they searched for deadly snakes and explored flora and fauna of the humid, tropical jungle followed by an amazing boat ride through the rivers of the Amazon. Next they visited Australia, savoring the red hot beauty and in search of cute marsupials followed by a 5,572 drive to Canada and back with their adorable dogs where they slept in tents and discovered beauty that is closer to most Americans than they think. Up next was Antarctica, a magnificent place that so few of us get to experience, and with Marty and Deb it was a chilling and glorious landscape that wasn’t as alien as it appears to be. Borneo, Europe and Africa were the last places that were covered, making me feel that the whole Earth was covered with footprints that belonged to the Essens. Their cheerful and sometimes scary encounters were so wonderfully written about, supplemented with marvelous photographs that I had to look at every time I cracked the book. They were also in perfect order with the book, giving the reader a transition into their trip from place to place, making it seem effortless even though it took them a few years to complete. It also helped that Marty took notes while traveling, making this book more authentic and adding little bits and pieces of conversation and jokes that could have been lost otherwise. I felt closer to some of my favorite animals after reading this gripping book, felt the warmth and hospitality of people from far away places and best of all I feel like I got the front row seat at a ride of my life, thinking that perhaps one day I will visit those places and give them the same respect as the author did. Marty placed great value upon respecting our planet, not littering and being careful with wild animals, not bringing them any harm when they are being observed. People should go and visit places to take the beauty in, not to take it away and diminish it in any way. This was a really exciting read, a wild life memoir filled with laughs and valuable information that will grip any reader and it made me feel like I went on an adventure of my own, reading about the close encounters with the most beautiful places and coolest animals. - Kasia S.

This article was indeed helpful. It is good to know the affinities of the trade and the preferences of the reviewer. Such knowledge paves the way for a fair collaboration between author and reviewer. The directives given minimize misunderstandings and hopefully narrow the expanse of time between submission and the resulting review.

Good Review but... In the first paragraph, the approach is less personal (someone), you switch to (them) and finally to (his). Change all to he/his. Make your first sentence your first paragraph and switch (someone) to (a man) and it will work better. To minimize large blocks of text and to emphasize dynamic comments, make this a paragraph: (Could she have something to do with...?) And this: (Who is Martin Windsor and where did he come from...?)

Although location and main character detail are plentiful, I found the plotting to be frequently b-movie-ish and there were too many plot details that did not connect in a reasonable way. A little too much leap of faith and suspension of disbelief for my mystery tastes. If you're a fan of movies with visceral, hacking violence over clever plot twists and turns - then this is probably for you.

Frankly, I think the first writer must have skimmed the book and just read the sex scenes (there were just two of them; one the wedding night). There's more than a dozen scenes of Talmud study, several of childbirth, plus lots of medieval Jewish life in general.

Anonymous: (1 year 337 days ago.)
I respect your opinion. However, you make it sound as if it is an erotic novel, which it is certainly far from being one. As for the sex scenes, today's pop singers with their videos that cater to pre-teen and teen have a great deal more skin and sex than this novel.

Anonymous: (1 year 337 days ago.)
Reader Rating 0.5 out of 5
This book is a stock romance novel. A little fact and a lot of sex. That fact should be prominently displayed in its reviews and promo so it doesn't end up on 12-year-old girls' bookshelves. It's simply not at all appropriate.
