Richard is a computer professional who is very active in his church and takes the calling of His Lord Jesus Christ very seriously. Though it has not always been that way, at one point, Richard's career had become more important than his family. So, in answer to the call of Jesus, Richard changed career paths to place Jesus Christ first, family second and career third.
Richard used to specialize in networking and servers, but now works as a project manager/software developer. Richard teaches as an adjunct faculty for a local university covering such topics as computer networking, assembler language, computer architecture and operating systems. |

Jesus' Parable of the Growing Seed

what the relative of growing seed?
Comment by April Lorier (5,991) April Lorier (1 year 48 days ago.)

Richard, congrats on a well-written "sermon" on Jesus' Parable! It is my favorite parable in the Bible, and I'm responding specifically to this scripture: Mark 4:28 (New International Version) “All by itself the soil produces grain--first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head."
Too often, when a person comes to Christ, some of us expect the new Christian to act, think, and feel as we "older" Christians do. We forget that growth is a process! I sometimes wonder if new Christians walk away because we didn't allow them to grow as The Spirit grew them up. My father was a pastor, and I saw many come to Christ, but fewer persevered. What a frightening thought that some of us may have been stumbling blocks to these precious neophytes in Christ! God bless you, Richard, more than you ever thought possible.

April, I have to agree with you. That far too often, we assume the "new Christian" has completed their walk with their acceptance of salvation. The walk is just beginning. Even though we can't create the growth in people, our Lord and Savior surely uses us to help with the nourishing. May we all echo His love in our words, thoughts and deeds. God's blessings and thanks for your comments. The glory is all His!

I believe God granted you these words for your article.....I love it and I love the Lord as well....just wish I could get it right

We are all struggling to get it right. The amazing thing is that our Lord forgives our shortcomings and welcomes us home to His loving arms. Thank you and God Bless.

Richard, I believe we are re-born learning a language all over again. Some of us are merely puppets acting not on our own but rather being used by our Lord to fulfill what is expected of us. I know myself being re-born I would have quit a long time ago if the strings were cut. Does this make any sense to you?
Response from Richard Miller (756) Richard Miller : (1 year 53 days ago.)
I think the analogy of a loving father that is continually using His eternal possiblities to help guide our lives is more accurate. Our Lord knows where we need to be to find the contentment that only He can provide. It is our willingness to accept that direction and follow that keeps us from cutting the strings. Thanks for the intriguing thought. God Bless. Rick

"To find their lesson of truth does not require a degree in theology, but simply a heart seeking God."

An inspiring article. One to set me on the straight and narrow. A road map of what is required of us as followers of Jesus Christ. Thank you!
Response from Richard Miller (756) Richard Miller : (1 year 130 days ago.)
Thanks for the comments. The challenges are great but the amazing thing is that Jesus Christ is there to help us.
