I am always fascinated about the topics you pick to write about. The truth is that "crazy" sells. We have something inside of us that makes us want to see how dumb, perverted etc. the other guy is. For those that may not know, the Russians have proven that it is possible to have sex in space.

No, no, no..The ziggs site only offers a tracking of who visits you on the ziggs website. Myspace and facebook have had these tracking devices for atleast a year and a half. They even have them posted onto their sites as world maps.

Poets Wanted - Get Published Online Today
Comment by Tex Norman (143) (5 days 17 hours ago.)
I started writing for Search Wrap only recently, and I have used some of my poetry in articles, but I had no idea that a poem all by itself could be or should be used as an entry. I'll be looking into that. I have used lulu DOT com to self publish some stuff, including a book of poetry called Portrait of the Poet as a Wild Hare, because they don't charge for set up, only for the copies (it's a publish on demand business), but just sharing my work might be fun. I feel like Emily Dickinson would have used the web to share her stuff it had been around in her day.

Unfortunately the area in which I live has a layer of silty loam that is about 120 feet deep. I haven't had a chance to go rock hunting since last fall in the Sierra Nevada mother lode country. I did find some gold at that time. But, I prefer fossils. There are some excellent rock hunting areas around Redding, California, if you ever make it up to that area. The diversity of both minerals and fossils is tremendous.

Comment by Mark Parsec (38,301) Mark Parsec (14 days 10 hours ago.)
Hi Robert,
That's interesting. I was going to say the same thing in my reply to your last comment... about there being only ONE party. I believe they are called the Aristocracy. If we do not raise our voices, or write about it, then we are just as guilty as they are. Unfortunately, it seems that the voice of the people will not have much of an effect until it reaches a fever pitch. Like with this $700 Billion dollar bailout. If we all said, "Hell No!" Then what would they do? Inevitably they would make us suffer... would they not?
robert melaccio sr.: (14 days 13 hours ago.)
Yes you are correct and another facet of our election process that says they can vote for who they want to and the hell with the rest. Yes they are supposed to do one thing but don't necessarily do. The fact that we only have one party to vote for, oh I'm sorry, they allude to there being two, but is that so? Well it really doesn't make any difference Marc does it? Why do we bother to write to it all? Why, because it is totally beyond belief. Best wishes.
Comment by Robert Melaccio, Sr. (6,510) Robert Melaccio, Sr. (15 days 5 hours ago.)

Mark an interesting point but in my opinion you really have it wrong here. Why, well only about 50% of who are eligible to vote, do. Perhaps a few more during a presidential election. Secondly those who do vote split right down the middle and except for a small percentage that switch they vote identical each and every time. That is the so called swing vote that decides an election. The rest stay home and gripe. In fact the "experts" say save for this recent market crash, yes and it was a crash that they don;t care to allude to, they could have expected this to be real close election. Just check out the polls prior to this event. So in reality Americans that vote really all do think alike and they prove it each and every election day. In fact they are predictable. So much so they could have a coin toss in downtown Washington and save us all some grief and money to pay for that huge bailout being placed on our shoulders and on our children's.
Best wishes.
Comment by Mark Parsec (38,301) Mark Parsec (15 days 3 hours ago.)
Robert, Thanks for your comment. But, I'm not sure if I understand what your point is. If you are saying that under 50% of eligible voters actually vote... well, this is an established fact. But, I ask you, does it really matter? Isn't the President elected by the Electoral College? Have you ever known any of the Electorate? I have. She said it was an absolute circus and that she was not allowed to disagree with the Electorate. Interesting, huh? Anyway, voters do change sides, otherwise we would always have just one party in office.
jennifer cuddy: (15 days 13 hours ago.)

I have to wonder who put the race buzz into the ears of the media. It seems to me not to have started unitl after the selection of the VP candidates took place.
If you are a conspiracy theorist, you might say that possibly the republicans put this issue out into the public. Why? Because it will skew the judgements of any subconciously racist Obama voters away from him. Just think about it..All of the sudden people have an image of Obama in their minds that is race related. The democrats need to minimize the attention that this issue is raising at all costs.

Is John McCain Insane? Torture, Suicide Attempt and PTSD
Jane Bullard: (30 days 16 hours ago.)
Mark - I believe that most people of whatever part or political views would not judge rumored thoughts or efforts of any candidate or party. Senator McCain's service record stands. Most of his political opponents agree that under extreme and severe hardship and suffering, Senator McCain went far far beyond anything most people on the earth can begin to imagine, much less bear.
What you have heard or read sounds like wolfish rumors dressed in sheepish clothing referring to events over 20 years ago under unimaginable suffering.
Comment by Mark Parsec (38,301) Mark Parsec (30 days 7 hours ago.)
Jane, I am not discrediting the honorable service that John McCain has demonstrated and I absolutely agree that his suffering must have been unimaginable. However, as a veteran who has worked with many veterans of many wars and seen first hand the effects of PTSD upon POWs and others, I believe it is imperative that we do not turn a blind eye to the possible consequences of this trauma upon the psyche of those we place in positions of trust.
This issue becomes even more of a concern when one considers the long-term side effects of torture and programming of the human mind. Deep seated psychological suggestions may have been implanted that could be triggered by key phrases or events. It is possible that most anyone experiencing the intense programming that Senator McCain endured would be subject not only to unexpected mental breakdowns but could also be easily manipulated psychologically (even after this many years) by a foreign entity who is privy to the art of mind control.
Can we afford to take that chance?

But tomorrow they say the weather is going to improve in this cold little city in Scotland. I hope so and maybe then when my mood climbs upward to hysterically happy I will return and try to make sense of a politician hugging a pea-shooter and try to find the satire/humour/intent behind it all!

But hey Mr Parsec (who has simply clicked on every author in Searchwarp and joined their fan club) I can guarantee that you have never read any of my articles and in-fact don't even know who I am - because 1 second after you joined my fan club you signed up to somebody else's!
So what is the point! What are you trying to prove or suggest by drawing visitors to an article that bears absolutely no meaning to life or to good writing?
And by the way I couldn't give two rats if Sarah Palin was a monk before signing up - if she was a gun-toting, bikini-wearing politician then at least she shows a spark of life as compared to the rest of them!

And, yes, I have read some of your articles. The one on prostitution was quite interesting, in fact. As far as your attitude about Palin and the political hype and satire that surrounds the Presidential elections coming up... apparently you missed the point. Now, if you would like me to leave your fan club, I will oblige you. I hope your day gets better.

The Problem With English As A Second Language Is The Language
Comment by Haj Ken (14) (33 days 23 hours ago.)

Hi Mark,
This is a wonderful article. Never ever did I think about how complicated it could be though I had to learn English as from age 14 and started speking it when I was about 17yrs. I come from Kenya yes, but I am a village guy who first had to learn my mother tounge called 'Kitaita' right from day one, then as I was 8 yrs old, had to move on to learn the national language which is 'Kiswahili', then later on embarked on the official language 'English'. At the age of 20, I also decided to learn Spanish as a foreign language which I am also very good at.
WIth all these languages I have to speak, my mind is quite often confused and at times I end up confusing expressions from one language to another and usually come up with very original expressions of my own, holly crap as I would call it....
Loved reading your article really and thank you for dropping me a line regarding my publications. I am not a great writer but I always try to desseminate any news I find important to the world out there
God bless too.
