Where are we?

Posted Friday, August 28, 2009 (87 days 10 hours ago.) Viewed 5 times.

Most of the time we hear questions like, "Who am I?", "What am I doing here?", "What is the purpose of all this?" and so on. When thinking about these more common questions it's helpful to also think about the latter Where am I? This will lead us in the direction of another good question What am I?

We ask these questions and we are led to certain concepts. They aren't answers yet. Think of concepts as the scientist (real scientists) thinks of a hypothesis. Science starts with a hypothesis and seeks to disprove it. If after a certain amount of tests over a certain period of time the hypothesis is not disproved it may be moved up a level to a theory. At some point it may become a law. This law is never supposed to be a sort of "Scientific Gospel". We should use it only until it fails to predict or "pan out". Until it doesn't interface with the whole system.

So we search we run across concepts which, almost exclusively, someone else has run across before. Someone has been where we are (if not everyone) and through whatever study or practice has found something out. These get written down and passed along and then, right when we need them, we find them. But we would do well not to look on them as answers. We'll get more out of our search if we view them all as concepts. Now we can practice the concept. We can put it to the test.

I ran across something the other day while reading and I want to include it here:

"In the Far East, the Buddhists say that our full body, our real body, is composed of a trinity of three bodies: Nirmanakaya is the functioning body, the physical body with which we usually identify. Sambhogakaya is the body of our mental and emotional activity, and it is our capacity to enjoy, for it is the energy of eternal delight. Dharmakaya is our ultimate body, our real body, which consists of nothing less than the whole quantum field of the universe, for, in truth, we are One with All That Is."

Note the "Trinity" reference? This idea exists in many, many studies and practices. It's carried over into some religions, which are a all formed from earlier studies, concepts and practices.

So when looking at this idea, or concept, of the Dharmakaya, can we find some clues as to "where we are"? The concept states that we are One with All That Is. It suggests an answer to the question What am I? Which I might suggest is a far more useful question than who am I? Who I am develops out of what I am. Who I am changes all the time with new information, new realizations and by doing new or different things. So the whole, "who are we" question is always met with, "Who is asking?". The un-tricky answer is you are who you think you are. There's nothing else to it. "What am I?", on the other hand, might lead us to an-other realization which is always more fun.

The idea is that I am a thing, that is connected to the universe. Or to refine it further I am, connected to the universe. Or as the author wrote it I am One with The Universe. Does that mean I am The Universe? It might. That's the concept I'm currently playing with and the one I wanted to extend today. What would that mean? Well for me it makes the whole death idea seem less significant. Along with who I think I am. What I think I should be doing. So where would this " body me " end? Where does the Universe end?

I don't want to bore you, or hinder you, by provided what I think might be answers. The purpose was to lay out a concept.

Path's

Posted Tuesday, August 25, 2009 (90 days 3 hours ago.) Viewed 2 times.

Understanding the Path Concept

You hear it all the time: Discover the path the enlightenment, the path to freedom, the road to financial success. You can even get a path to finding your sole mate. How about this, it's my favorite, find your true purpose in life. Or find the meaning of life. That last one is just plain wild.

So do these paths exist? Is it possible to sign up and get a personal path to happiness in the mail? Or download the secret to your life's purpose in an e-book? Well, you can certainly get them. You can hold them in your hand and you can read them. What will become of it? What good will be gained? Peace of mind? Eternal Bliss? Financial stability? True love? Do I have a path you can follow? You've read the title of this page and expect me do provide something. The first thing I'd like to provide is an understanding of "Paths" or "Roads".

Are they real? - some are - and some aren't. But that's not the most important thing to know about paths.

The most important bit of knowledge I can provide concerning paths is this. Somewhere in your house or your car there are a bunch of maps. OK maybe not a bunch. Lets pretend that in the glove box of your car there is a map of the united states (or any country). On this map is a well researched path to every destination in the country. It's real. We all believe that if we follow these paths on these maps we'll arrive at "A Place". Why would you choose to go to any of these places? Lets pretend there is a little town named Happy ville. What would inspire you to go to a little town like happy ville? It's name implies - a happy place. Why haven't you been there yet? Isn't that the way it is with maps? You can get to these places. All you've got to do is follow the map. What would make it worth your while?

All the maps in the world don't put us at the destination. That seems obvious but it's important. People are looking for "places to be". Places to go, other than where they are. So they buy a path. Lets pretend it's an actual path. Lets pretend they lucked out and fell in with someone who could indeed give them the direction they needed. Lot's of people have gotten to this point. They are the people in the story with maps in the glove box. Real maps. But they don't go anywhere. You might say, "They're probably busy...". You'd be 100% right. Lets pretend that there is a billion dollars worth of gold in Happy ville. All you have to do is stop what we're doing and go get it. How many are leaving today? Your guess is probably as good as mine here. How many? One in ten thousand? Why?

There are two qualifiers that have to be in place before people take action. One: we have to believe it's true. Let's say we're convinced there is a billion in gold and all we have to do is get to Happy ville and it's ours. Now how many are out the door? How many are packing bags and calling to get someone to look after with the pets? Are they on their way with only one qualifier met? Nope, there was two. One, it's there. Two, I want it - I really want it. That's what it takes - it's real and I want it. I usually word it a little differently. I say, "Is it real and does it work". But it means the same thing. We can have all the maps and path and secrets in the world laid at our feet and nothing will happen until we decide if they're real and that we want them. Can't go with just one. I want it but I don't believe it's real equals no action. It's real, but I don't want it equals no action. Put the two together and Bingo - we're off and running.

So lets pretend we are considering investigating the concept of tranquility. Why would someone do that? Why would it come up as a possible fulfillment interest? People who are looking for tranquility are looking for tranquility because they heard a story told about tranquility. Can't be anything else. Tranquility is a word used to describe something to people - a story. There are fiction and non-fiction stories. There is fiction passed off as non-fiction and the other way around. So we hear a story about tranquility, or peace of mind or anything and we think we would like to know more. Why? Simply put: we're not completely happy. Nothing wrong with that, very few people are completely happy. So we're looking and listening and someone talks about peace of mind or nirvana and we think - Is that what I'm missing? Lets pretend we believe we are lacking in the nirvana department and we've begin our investigation. Right now we're operating on - might be real and I might want it. The essential qualifiers are actually in place. What we believe is - we want something and it's real. It's out there somewhere. So we look.

At last after looking at a lot of material we've decided to get Rosalinda's Path to fulfillment. We have it in our hands and we have a tingling hope that our lives are about to change. Hey we have new hope - that's better already. One week later it's in the glove box on top of the map to Happy ville. What the hell happened? We were there, moving, on the path - What happened? One of two things - didn't believe it was real or didn't want it. Does that mean that it wasn't a valid path? Does it mean that following the steps along the path would - Not - lead to perfect peace? Not necessarily. Of course it might have been trashed because about the time it started to get interesting we're told how to buy the next step at a limited time discount. But, not necessarily. Lets pretend it was real. Lets pretend you read it, it made sense, you found out what the process was and believed it led to a state of tranquility but decided it really wasn't something you wanted? Glove box.

I believe that "The path to Knowing what you want" is the path to be on. I can tell you what I think is the easiest way to get started: write down everything you're positive you don't want. Hang it up so it's visible. Add to it. Get a pocket size spiral for when the list is out of reach and transfer the new items to the main list when you can. Is this the path to complete happiness? You may notice if you've seen much dgswilson.com stuff a repeating theme that reads "Getting Started On A Self Determined Path". When it comes to addiction I have some steps I believe will allow people to recover. Do I believe I have "A Path"? I believe I've found a good system. It's not mine. It's a collective. The system for getting started on a self determined path is to start collecting facts. You find out what's real and put it in a "Stuff that is Real" place. You start a collection. So pretty soon we'll know a few things that are real and we'll know a few things that we don't want. We'll also have them at hand. That, at hand business, is really important.

Everyone already knows what they want. Everyone wants to be happy. There is an exhaustive bit of writing on this and you can follow up as you see fit. Decide if it goes in the "Real Stuff Box". If we don't want to have our own path, we can follow any number provided by others. Most choose this option. If we want a self determined path, we'll have to have a system we can follow. The simpler the better. We'll soon find others that can, and will, help us. Others who have done the same thing and have useful experiences and observations to share with us. We will decide if they're real and we'll know what to do with them. I could keep writing - but I "don't want it". I would be very interested in what you find as you go along. What got put in the real category? What do you know you don't want? How has it been useful?

Dear Activist

Posted Saturday, July 04, 2009 (142 days 12 hours ago.) Viewed 6 times.

Response to an email from a well known activist Leader....

I got your plan. I read it. It isn't going to work. I can say this with all surety because I've been watching it - not work - for a long time. I understand peoples emotional attachment to their own ideas. In this case the cost of these attachments is dear. They stand in the way of getting the results you "claim" to want. I don't even know if you are truly in favor of these results. But let's accept, for now, that you are the genuine altruistic article. Here is why you'll never reach your goals.

You don't know your enemy. Absolutely a must in all battles. You claim that the opposition can be coerced and swayed. This is false. You're opposition responds only to the threat of populace uprising. Not populace opinion. Not grassroots campaigns for change. They don't respond because they understand your powerlessness.

You don't understand democracies. Read Thomas Paine. Here is a little example of why democracies always end in tyranny. A teacher addresses her class of 3rd graders: OK class, everyone who want's to study and learn about the history of the United States raise their hands. OK, everyone who want's to go to the park and get ice cream, raise there hands. Ice cream at the park wins by a landslide. The children have given the teacher a mandate. Now it's deal time. OK kids, we'll go to the park but first I'd like you to put a check in the box beside - I'm your favorite teacher and you want to be in my home room. The teacher goes on to be the most popular teacher at the school. Her class is voted best behaved. She promises more ice cream if they are quiet, do their assignment and talk nice about her. Now you have a corrupted system and a corrupted populace. Read Cicero.

There is no way you or me, who realize we're getting dumber and fatter, are going to change this system by gathering a majority vote. It's understandable when we look at this example using third graders. It's no different with what we refer to as grown ups. Especially those who grew up in this teachers class. Read John Taylor Gatto.

If you, or any other "group for change" wants a different world picture you'll have to get different artists. In the case of government you'll have to become one. When you, and all the groups, work together to put people - you choose from your groups - in office, things will change. At the moment you're trying to use human reasoning to talk to animals. A major mistake people make is in thinking - people in government, heads of multinationals, owners of Pharma, insurance, FDA, CIA...Most of all international bankers (the list goes on). It includes the heads of such things as the IRS, CFR, a handful of royalty and the elite minority - are people. People like me and you. They're not.

It's not realistic to look at them as people. If we see them as animals we can deal with them on their level. If we think of them as a different species we can deal with them realistically. Are they a different species? Some think so - but that's not the point. The point is to make a radical change in our thinking. The fact is - if government was interested in, or capable of, making any of the changes you and others want to see - it would be done. They've had a hundred years. How long does it take for you to get it? Read Noam Chomsky.

It's really very simple, not easy: simple. Create a solidarity. Gather all groups into one power structure. Pick your senators and congressman. That's the first thing that has to be done. That's what your opposition does. They may not be smarter than us but they are better at forming a government than us. They've done it. So pick your people. Pick them on their electability. Hire the people who get people elected. Do what they do. Start today building the new republic. Get the romanticism of democracy out of your head. It's not a real picture. It's a fabrication created by your opposition. It had to be created so that it could take over. Read Thomas Jefferson.

Here's what will happen. You are going to get your teeth kicked in. You will have the full force of the police state directed against you. Ridiculous amounts of money and influence will be used to discredit, subvert and disband you. That and more will be thrown at you. You will be attacked by the people who graduated from the example teachers class. This is how you'll know you're on the right track.
