Don't Think About Purple Teddy Bears

Posted Sunday, October 05, 2008 (94 days 6 hours ago.) Viewed 22 times.

If we were sitting together and I said to you "Don't think about Purple Teddy Bears!" What's the first thing that pops into your mind? Exactly! Purple Teddy Bears!

You may think that this is an unusual way to begin an article but the point I am making here is very, very important and this light-hearted example makes the point very clearly. What point I hear you asking! Well, if you were to ask a certain well know UK hypnotist this question he would say "The mind does not process negation." which is gobbledygook to most normal thinking people. However, if you re-read my first sentence above, the meaning will become very clear to you. What this means is that your mind does not give value or attention to negatives. For example, if you say "I want to lose weight." Your focus and attention is on "weight" and consequently your mind will assist you in maintaining your current weight or even increasing it. Another example would be that you say "I don't want to be poor." And again as your attention is on "poor" you will maintain and attract to yourself more "poor" or poverty. I'm sure this is becoming clear to you now. If not then I suggest you go back to the beginning and re-read this section again and think about it before continuing with the rest of this article.

To make positive changes in your life, you must think and make statements of what you really want, not what you don't want. And if you think that these two things are the same then excuse me for saying this but you are quite wrong. Why? Because they are in fact opposites and the results or consequences will be poles apart. It is very important to have this point clear in your mind.

Okay, let's assume that the above is clear and we will continue. To initiate any significant changes in your life the first step is to be clear about what it is you really want. For example, let's say you want a new car. You would not say "I don't like my car and want to change it." as this is a negative focus. Also you would not be too general with your request to the universe and say "I want a new car." What will draw your new car to you is to be very specific and detailed such as "I want a new black Mercedes SL350 convertible, with cream leather upholstery, parking sensors, a built in satnav, black floor mats and a 6 CD autochanger." Now if you really want to gain a powerful advantage and draw your new dream black Mercedes car towards you even more quickly then you should also do the following:

* visit your local Mercedes car showroom and sit in your dream car; smell and feel the new soft leather, wrap your hands around the steering wheel, now let your eyes feast on the elegance of the interior and the style and beauty of the body design – wonderful!

* next book a test drive and think about driving this beautiful car and imagine the wind on your face and rushing through your hair and you feel great – fantastic!

* now when the time comes for your test drive, really sit back and enjoy this experience and drive this car as though you own it and imagine that this beautiful black Mercedes SL350 is all yours – awesome!

The final part of this is to hold onto your clear mental picture and to the feelings you have associated with owning this new car, and believe with all your being that this new elegant and stylish Mercedes is on its way to you and absolutely nothing can stop it. As Wayne Dyer would say "You will see it when you believe it."

Here is a second example for those of you who may be more interested in acquiring personal qualities and skills and not material things. Let's say you want to be a good public speaker. And remember that you would not think or say "I don't want to be a poor public speaker." First of all you would state very clearly, perhaps out loud and in your mind and even write it down "I want be to a good public speaker." or "I am becoming a good public speaker." Next visualise yourself giving a great talk to an interested and appreciative audience. They are smiling at you and nodding their heads. They are leaning forward in their chairs to catch your every word. The expression on their faces clearly shows that they are impressed and interested in what you are sharing with them. Your words are flowing very easily and you feel inspired. [it feels good, doesn't it!]

Now take action to project the new image you have of yourself and to reinforce the new confident and eloquent speaker that you are. Practise giving a 5-10 minute talk on a subject that you feel passionate about. Relax! The first practice step is to do this on your own. Next, when you are comfortable with the first step choose a very good friend or perhaps your partner (and consider one or two other people) and give the same talk. Repeat these two steps a few times until you have adopted and ingrained into your being that YOU ARE A GOOD SPEAKER. See this in your minds eye and believe it and feel it. Know that the more you believe you are a good speaker and you speak in public the more this will become embedded into your whole being and public speaking will be very natural for you. And when I say 'public speaking' I am not necessarily referring to speaking to large groups or hundreds of people, although you may have this as your goal, 'public speaking' may be feeling more confident and comfortable telling a joke at an informal dinner party or standing up at a business meeting and sharing your views with the participants or perhaps giving a short presentation to your work colleagues. Whatever it is, if you follow these simple steps you can and you will become a good speaker – just believe in yourself!

The important message I am trying to convey here is to help you to gain a clear understanding that to draw good things, qualities, events and people into your life and into your experience you must focus on the positive and on what you really want. And the best way of putting this to the test is just to try it. Well, have you got anything to loose? or rather I should say "How much have you got to gain?" and the answer is "Lots!"

I wish you health and happiness.

9 Practical Tips to Lift Your Mood

Posted Wednesday, October 01, 2008 (98 days 14 hours ago.) Viewed 72 times.

1 – Practice reframing your thoughts and take a different perspective on situations. For example, a driver cuts in front of you and you feel angry. Consider that the driver has an emergency – perhaps a sick child - and is in a desperate hurry to collect his child from school. [Feels better, doesn't it?]

2 – Slowly drink a glass of water in the mornings and while drinking think to yourself "This is magical and health inducing water. It is washing away impurities and filling me with health and vitality…" [It tasted different, didn't it?]

3 – Lift your mood while you are alone and driving or at home. Listen to one of your favourite up-beat songs loudly and sing along OR say to yourself repeatedly "I like myself! I like myself! I like myself!" [You couldn't help smiling, could you?]

4 – Start a simple exercise routine (aerobics, shadow boxing, yoga, tai chi…), preferably in the mornings, and while doing your routine repeat positive words and expressions such as: "Health!" "I feel good!" "Vitality!" "The Universe is my friend!" "Energy!" "Inspiration!" "Confidence!" etc. etc. [You will feel much more alive and ready for a fantastic day!]

5 – Feed your soul by reading a short passage from a Holy Book such as the Bible, Quran, Buddhist or Baha'i Scriptures OR if you are not religious, read something you find inspirational and uplifting. [Do this every day and you will feel the difference within 7 days.]

6 – Think of a nice thing to do or to say to someone. This could be as simple as a compliment to a work colleague such as "That's a great tie." or "You look happy today!"  [This is a win/win. Other people will feel good and you will feel good too. Just try it for a few days.]

7 – Do something uplifting in the morning in place of watching the news. This will have a dramatic effect on your mood and your outlook on life as you will be starving yourself of your usual morning/evening stimulus of bad news. [Let's be realistic. Is there ever any good news on the TV? This will obviously make you feel more positive and optimistic as your focus of attention will gradually be drawn towards the many, many good things life has to offer.]

8 – Find time just for yourself. Everyone needs some "me" time. There are many ways to do this and I will list a few to get your creative imagination working: 1: Take a short stroll alone at lunch time. 2: Go to bed 15 minutes before your spouse. 3: Get up a little earlier. 4: Pull over in your car for 15 minutes and listen to some soothing music or just sit quietly. [Do this and everyone around you will benefit as you will be happier and less stressed.]

9 – At the end of the day sit quietly and think of (or better still write down) 10 good things about your day. This might be a challenge for the first day or two, but by the third day you will amaze yourself how easy it is to pick out the good things in your day. [Do this for just one week and I promise that you will notice more and more great things about life.]

Do let me know how you get on with these simple tips. Thank you!

What's Stopping You From Realising Your Dreams?

Posted Sunday, September 28, 2008 (100 days 20 hours ago.) Viewed 54 times.

Have you not heard medical professional, scientists and mind experts claim that you use only 5%-10% of the capacity of your mind? Have you not been told that you have the spirit of God within you; and that you have the power to heal yourself? What about your unlimited potential and that you are a special and unique human being? Do you not know that you have the ability to tap into the power of the universe and accomplish great and wondrous things? Are you unaware of your magnetic power? Ahhh! if only you were aware of what a unique and wonderful creature you really are.

STOP what you are doing right now and ask yourself just what is stopping you from making a start on this marvellous and exciting journey into a better life? What is preventing you from realising your true potential? Why does financial abundance seem to elude you? Why do you fail in your attempts to stop smoking or to lose weight? Why does good health continue to be a stranger? What hinders you from being more creative or from becoming an inspirational speaker? Why do your hopes and dreams remain unfulfilled?

Is it that you don't believe you can achieve marvellous things because you haven't done so before? Is it that you are a prisoner wrapped up in your conditioning and have adopted the limitations that have been taught to you? Is it that you fear failure? Is it that you can't accept that your natural condition is health or that God has created everything in abundance and for your benefit and enjoyment? Perhaps it is your guilt that holds you back or you just don't believe that you deserve the good things life has to offer? Whatever your reasons are I have good news for YOU!

First of all you are a very special and unique human being. There is only one of you. No one else is like you. You have a unique and valuable contribution to make to life that only you can make. Secondly, you have the spirit of God within you and God has no limitations. If you don't believe in God then believe in the power of the universe that is at your disposal like your own personal unlimited powerhouse and Genie. Know that excessive guilt is a useless and limiting emotion and you cannot change nor can you undo past actions - so it's best to learn from them and to move on.

Believe that your natural condition is perfect health and happiness. Believe that financial abundance is not limited and decide to have a positive attitude towards money and you will attract more of it into your life. Think of yourself as a powerful magnet that attracts to itself whatever are the dominant reoccurring thoughts in your mind; and if your good and positive thoughts are linked to passion or to a strong emotion then you will attract their realisation even more quickly into your life and into your experience. "Believe it and you will see it!"

A Great Teacher once said: "Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value." and "All things have I willed for thee."

He knew our great and unique value and compared us to a "mine rich in gems of inestimable value." and He told us that " all things" have been created for us and for YOU!

So really the answer to "What is Stopping You From Realising Your Dreams?" is YOU! Today you can take your first small steps towards great changes! First, just decide whether you want to become the very best you can and to achieve your true potential.

You must be asking yourself, "What do I need to do?" Well, this is very easy and you can start with these three small steps:

1 Have a strong desire to change and believe in yourself

2 Open your mind to wondrous possibilities and opportunities

3 And finally, take just one small step forward and remember that
every journey starts with this first step - so take it today!

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

"The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want."
- Ben Stein

"If you take the first step you are already one step closer to accomplishing your goals."
- Author Unknown

"Take the first step, and your mind will mobilize all its forces to your aid. But the first essential is that you begin. Once the battle is startled, all that is within and without you will come to your assistance."
- Robert Collier

"Every journey starts with the first step."
- Chinese Proverb

In my experience the very first step is to have or to create a strong desire to change. When you have the desire to change it is not only possible to change but it can be very easy; and when you have a burning desire and passion within you then changes can be made with lightening speed.

Without a strong desire, change is very difficult if not impossible. However, as you are reading this article this obviously doesn't apply to you so take your first small steps today!

Stay well and until we meet "Strive to exceed the limitations of your imagination." and "Let the power of the Universe pulsate through your veins."
