The Blame Game
"No one is willing to acknowledge a fault in himself when a more agreeable motive can be found for the estrangement of his acquaintances" ~ Mark Twain The blame game. Don't we all do it? It starts when we are children "The dog did it" "I don't know" "It wasn't me" "I swear I didn't do it" By the time we are adults we have learned to hone our skills. What do we do? The report you were supposed to... (posted by Grace 2 years 225 days ago.)

A Journey Without Fear
The fan whirred overhead barely moving the thick air. It was only 7 a.m., but already I was drenched in sweat. December was here and summer just waiting to come full force. The clouds building to the east didn’t bother me. Nothing would bother me today. This was the day I had been waiting for all my life. I had turned 18 five weeks before. My life as a university student was at an end. With a snick of the latch, my... (posted by Grace 2 years 226 days ago.)

The Joy of Working From Home
There are times working from home is wonderful. I can sit in my sweats all day and if I'm having a bad hair day, well who is going to see? Unfortunately Friday was not one of those days. Hubby's office was closed due to electrical issues in the building. Great for kids and adults who want a day off and do not have to get out of bed. Lousy for someone (like me) who still has to work. ... (posted by Grace 2 years 227 days ago.)

With These Hands
When was the last time you held out your hand to someone in need? When was it that you gave of your time to help those who could use a comforting word? When did it happen that instead of closing your hands to others, you opened it instead? At birth there are hands to hold us, feed us, clothe us and comfort us. As we grow those hands are there to pick us up and wipe away the tears. (posted by Grace 2 years 228 days ago.)

Social Ineptitude
The wallflower sits to the side of the room watching everyone else. "Please God, don't let anyone notice me" she begs. Eyes peeled on the closest exit, she counts the minutes until she can quietly slither her way to the door and escape. Sweet freedom lies on the other side. She's paid her dues long enough. The punishment has been dealt and she owned up to her mistake. Now with the end so near, she can't... (posted by Grace 2 years 229 days ago.)

The Reluctant Voyeur
The apartment was tiny. The living area held a small couch, just big enough for the woman and child to snuggle up on during those cool, dark nights. The kitchenette was larger than their last place but she could still stretch her arms and touch cabinet to cabinet. The one bedroom they shared was listed as a double but she laughed when the single they shared barely left room to open the wardrobe. It was a... (posted by Grace 2 years 230 days ago.)
