Campaigning With Old, But Reliable Products

Posted Tuesday, July 15, 2008 (129 days 11 hours ago.) Viewed 8 times.

The campaign season is in full swing. Hillary Clinton is out, Barack Obama is in, and John McCain has been in the running for a while already. Those are candidates that receive most of their exposure via the electronic media. Television, radio, internet. Not every politician who is running for office has that advantage, though.

You Don't Need to Break the Bank

Local folks running for office receive little or no 'face time' on TV and their campaigns are not often broadcast during the radio news. Campaigns can become very expensive if you elect (pun intended) to buy airtime on the TV or radio. There is an alternative that won't break the bank. Try some good ol' political posters.

The First Political Poster?

Political posters have been around since the beginning. In fact, archeologists uncovered what may have been the first political poster. During a tunnel excavation, workers found a large flat rock with a crude picture of a caveman kissing a baby scratched onto the smooth surface. There were some simple letters of some sort as well, which archeologists translated into "Vote For Ork."

True?

OK. I lied through my teeth about the first political poster, but they really have been a part of most political campaigns for hundreds of years. There is more to them than meets the eye. The idea behind them (or any other similar political promotional product) is to create the feeling within the viewers that they know the candidate. This works by putting the photograph of the candidate on the poster, along with a catchy phrase, and his name. The posters are put in public places, in the work place, and anywhere they can be stuck to a wall. As people see the face and name regularly, they become more comfortable with that person even though they have never met him. It is human nature.

Why They Work So Well

Think about it. If you had to pick between two equal candidates, but one of them had saturated the town with posters showing his smiling face, while the other one was just a name, whom would you pick? Again, assuming the candidates had little difference between them, you would pull the lever for the one whose face was known to you. Like I said...it's human nature.

Political posters are inexpensive, especially compared to purchasing time on the radio or TV. Strategically placed posters may reach more potential voters than the electronic media. They are one of the best campaign products for the money.

Do You Suppose McCain and Obama Used This Inexpensive Campaign Technique?

Posted Tuesday, July 15, 2008 (129 days 11 hours ago.) Viewed 2 times.

Let The "Games" Begin

Politics is an interesting sport, to say the least. These days, with the electronic media saturating the airwaves and internet with all the political jousting among candidates, people can become overwhelmed and eventually shut it all out. We have all heard someone say, "I'm SICK of politics!" as they clamp their hands over their ears. I'm a political junkie, and even I need to shut off the radio for a few days now and then.

There Is A Simpler Way

There is a way to reach the voters without bashing them over the head with endless TV and radio ads. No, it isn't the print media. Fewer and fewer people read them nowadays, anyway. Nope...billboards are very expensive and their effectiveness is questionable. Huh uh. It isn't kissing babies at rallies, either. The technique we will discuss here is centuries old. It is the practice of handing out inexpensive 'give-aways.'

Simpler Is Often Better

Yes, I'm talking about the simple, straightforward, modest, political promotional product. Their advantage over other methods of getting one's name out is that they are completely unobtrusive. They don't force themselves upon you like a broadcast political advertisement, yet the intended audience is constantly seeing them. There are scads of promotional products that a campaign could utilize. Each one finds its way into the hands of the public, and is then placed in a prominent spot in the home or workplace where everyone regularly sees it. They could end up on a refrigerator, in a wallet or purse, on a locker at work.

It's Human Nature

Sure, a small promotional product is unable to relate a politician's entire stance of various important issues, but they will allow him to become a familiar name and face to the voter. Slowly, but surely, the repeated passive viewings of the product will help instill a sense of familiarity with the politician. It's simply human nature, and people vote for those with whom they feel comfortable.

Check out the products available and see which ones will help you win the trust and confidence of the voters.

Dental Health Care Providers and Promotional Products

Posted Monday, July 07, 2008 (137 days 1 hour ago.) Viewed 8 times.

Let's face it. Dentists aren't the most popular people around. I don't mean the dentist himself. He might be a great person, and his staff could epitomize perfection in their skills, but going to the dentist simply isn't fun. Even a routine cleaning is uncomfortable. In that respect I feel bad for dentists. They know, and you know, they're going to hurt you.

Dentist Offices Can Be Intimidating Kids are most susceptible to the angst of dental visits. On the other hand, they are also the most prone to be convinced that going to the dentist isn't quite so bad. I'm sure that's why they give out those trinkets to the children after their visit to the office. Even though the dentist has stuck his fingers and a tray full of scary looking pointy tools in the child's mouth and made him gag, choke and spit, he wants it to end with a pleasant note. "Here, kid. Have a nice plastic ring...and don't worry, the feeling in your face will come back in an hour." Again, I feel sorry for the dentist because that's a tough assignment. The child probably doesn't believe him, and is silently planning his revenge for when he is older.

This Might Reduce the Anxiety Factor What does this have to do with promotional products? Maybe not a lot. But children do enjoy receiving the little doo-dads given to them after their visit. Instead of the hokey plastic ring that is lost in the car seat before they get home, why not provide something that the entire family can utilize? One particular item would be a refrigerator magnet with your office information on it. Another idea is a magnetic wipe-on wipe-off memo board fashioned in the shape of a tooth that displays your name and phone number. The children will enjoy the shaped magnets, and the parents can rely on them as a reminder for future appointments, or in the case of the memo board they can use it to leave messages or make notes for family members.

Give it a thought, check out a vendor and see what's available. Having your office information in the home of each of your patients will help assure they come in for routine checkups. That means healthier, happier patients.

Maybe I don't need to feel so sorry for the dentist after all.

Banks Benefit By Using the Proper Promotional Products

Keeping your message in front of potential clients - as well as your existing ones - is key to building a larger customer base. Not only have many studies confirmed that fact, but any businessperson that has been around for any length of time will tell you the same thing. Name recognition is the game. Advertising promotional products are an outstanding medium for developing name and face recognition. They are inexpensive, informative, and can result in hundreds of exposures a day. With so many financial institutions available to the public, any advantage over your competition is a valuable asset.

But That's Not All! There is more to it than simply getting your business name to become a household word. Yes, promotional products with your business information and hours provide the basic services you offer, which answers some of your potential customers' questions, but when you add a quality, digitally printed photograph of you or one of your bank officers, you have given them the personal touch that human beings crave. We are social creatures. It's in our nature to feel more comfortable with someone we know. A portrait displayed on a product delivers on that basic human desire. They may not truly "know you," but they will have a slight emotional attachment to that person now.

The Result... So...where do you think someone would go when they need a bank? An institution about which they know nothing, or one where they can expect to see a familiar face. (A rhetorical question.) Whether you opt for a magnetic business card, a calendar for the refrigerator, a memo board or one of the dozens of available products, there are a number of suppliers out there that offer products that make you look good. Here are a few products available today.

Picking a supplier for your promotional products is important, too. Make sure you choose one that employs the most current digital four color process printing techniques so you get a great looking product. The quality of your advertising specialty product reflects directly on your financial institution.

Politicians Can Benefit From This Simple Item

Posted Monday, June 30, 2008 (144 days 11 hours ago.) Viewed 6 times.

Who Uses Them?

Smart politicians, that's who. You've seen them displaying their name and photograph on large magnetic vehicle signs, haven't you? Of course. It's not unusual to see vehicle signs for people running for local office, as well as supporters for a particular Presidential candidate. Why do you see them so often? Because they work, that's why.

Who Sees Them?

A custom magnetic vehicle sign will be seen all over town. Slap a pair on a car and you have created a moving billboard that will catch the eye of potential voters where ever you travel. A colorful sign with the name and perhaps even a photo of the candidate will demand the attention of the minivan next to you at the stoplight or the person waiting to cross the street. Design a car door magnet that gives a thumbnail description of the candidate's stand on issues, and while your car is parked at the local mall, folks that pass by will be able to read it. And unlike stationary signs that people see so regularly that they become 'invisible,' vehicle signs are always in a different spot so new people see them each day.

How Do You Use Them?

Car door magnets have one great advantage over most all other types of campaign product. They are portable. When properly applied and removed, they will not damage the finish, so you can whip them on and off as needed. You may decide to take the magnet off when you are going to attend a church service or a wedding perhaps, so you can simply pull if off and put it in the truck. If you have several vehicles, you can swap the magnets between them. Going to drive the truck today? Just yank them from the van and attach them to the truck. Simple!

The Bottom Line

Whether the car is moving or parked, a quality magnetic vehicle sign is a proven method of bringing attention to your candidate or issue. How do I know? Politicians use them because they work. If they didn't provide results, even for such a modest investment, you wouldn't see so many of them on the roads today. Find a good supplier and start campaigning efficiently today.
