Viewed 42 times. Recently I have observed an interesting development in my own progress in pursuit of my purpose. My wife and I had thought of building a center, a physical location, to offer our services. After some mentoring and self analysis we realized that, although the services are our hearts' desire, the center was not. At the time we had thought the center was our vision and goal. Now, looking back, I realize that the feelings we had for the center and all what it involved were not exciting us. The idea did not resonate with our vision of helping others. This got us rethinking about our purpose. Our purpose statement changed only slightly, as our desire is to teach others and help them release the old paradigms and live their life's purpose. Now we are getting excited at our new vision - to bring our services to others wherever it is required without the restriction of a center. Soon our "center" will be a web portal, backed by our upcoming book "Wings of Change", where we will offer our various services online and offline. So what can we all learn from this? It is important to be in tune with your purpose. If it doesn't FEEL good then reexamine your motives and plans. Is what you are doing exciting you? Are your plans resonating with your vision, in that they excite you just to think of it. That feeling in the stomach is the result of your intuition and is to be heeded. Does it feel right? Then do it. Maybe it doesn't feel wrong, as in our case, but if it doesn't lift your level of expectation then really sit down and analyze it. Is this what you really want to do? Does it expand your vision? Lets not get trapped by business in doing things related to our goals if they are really getting in the way and hindering us reaching our goals. Find the thing that moves you closer to your dream and do that. Have you had any similar experiences? Why not leave a comment and tell us about it. If you would like to learn about writing your purpose statement, ask me for Bob Proctor's article on "Purpose, Vision and Goals". Many times I spoke of what I wished to have or do. I wished many things, but they only remained wishes, distant dreams of a better life and things to possess which I had accepted would never be. We live our lives in misery, pepping ourselves up a little with our day dreams, but never really believing that they can come true. "Dreams don't come true", we hear from others when we speak about our dreams, and then we convince ourselves that they are right and we give it up and turn it into a fantasy wish. But occasionally one dream jumps out into fulfillment. Think back on those dreams which seem to have come true. Are they not those which emotionally got hold of you and which you wouldn't let go of? I propose that if you treated every wish like this then every wish would come true. The trick is to consciously and deliberately dream. Pick your dream and describe it in detail, its best to write it down. Now start dreaming and really get emotionally involved, put feeling into it. Feel what it is like to be in possession of that dream already now. Pretty soon you will be seeing things related to your dream all over the place, you will meet people and receive ideas. What happens here is the intention of mind attracting like vibrations. You are tuning in to those things, situations and people which are related to your dream. This is why it is so important to focus on your dream and never give up. Stick with it. You can dream your dream into reality. And you may find it helpful to stop talking about your dream to those who say dreams don't come true. You will see, they do! Permalink Comments (1) Why Are You Here? What’s Your Purpose? Part 1Posted Saturday, May 24, 2008 (1 year 167 days ago.) Viewed 30 times. Why do you like doing certain things more than others? Why do some things interest you and some things don't interest you at all? Have you noticed that when you do the things you enjoy doing you feel better and you actually feel somehow complete? Have you also noticed the conflict between what you enjoy doing and what life "demands" you should be doing? If you've experienced this then you are the victim of a society of pattern. Patterns rule our modern society. We grow up to certain customs, adapt certain habits, eat certain foods at certain times, go to pre-school, school, college, university, get a job, get married, have kids, earn money, make debt - and in the midst of all this patterned life you try to find time for what you really like to do, sometimes called a hobby. Of course you enjoy your job and maybe it does bring some fulfillment, but why is your inner yearning to get out and do something else, something more enjoyable? The reason you feel this way, the reason most people feel this way, the reason I have felt this way is one and the same. You feel frustrated because you are in the wrong boat! You are allowing Pattern to define your life instead of Purpose! A pattern is what you get when you pour ball-bearings into a tray and shake the tray so that all the ball-bearings fall into a pattern into the corner of the tray. You get a pattern when you spread some iron-filings onto a tray and place a magnet underneath. All the ball-bearings and all the iron-filings fall into a predefined pattern when an outside force is applied. You are experiencing the same result. An outside force is causing you to fall into a predefined pattern. That outside force is society. Now for a lot of people that is a good thing. It gives them stability and sometimes security. Some people can't cope with the pressure of following patterns and drop out of society. Then there are others who rise above it. Imagine one little ball-bearing refusing to fall into the pattern and jumps right up and out and away from the crowd and away from the outside force. The surrounding ball-bearings will be a little upset, because now there's a hole in the pattern and they have to shuffle out of their routine pattern in order to fill the hole. Now imagine you jumping out from your patterned environment and doing something different, something your really enjoy doing. Those around you, those with whom you have been falling into pattern, will get upset. You have upset their routine and now they must move around to adjust before they can settle back into their comfortable pattern. You can expect this reaction when you step out to follow your purpose. And what is your purpose? In my next article I will give some tips which I believe will help you find your purpose. What is your opinion? Can we discover why we are here? If so how do you think we can uncover our purpose? Permalink Comments (0) What is Intuition?Posted Sunday, May 04, 2008 (1 year 187 days ago.) Viewed 78 times. I've been busy lately with my wife writing our book and I thought why not add some of the thoughts from our upcoming book. We have just completed the outline on a chapter dealing with intuition. This is a much ignored faculty of the mind and yet so important. It is something which philosophers have written about throughout the ages and yet it is generally not understood or even regarded as a serious element of human life. Intuition is largely ignored and spoken of as something mysterious. Sometimes you will hear someone speak of their intuition as a feeling in their gut, or that hunch or inkling of an idea. "I just know it's so", "I can't explain it, it's a feeling I have inside." These are some of the ways people speak of their intuitive faculty. Even though they may feel something, they usually can't explain it. How many times have you experienced this inner feeling that something is wrong or right? Is this something we should be taking more notice of? These definitions from Rhymezone are quite good at explaining Intuition in simple terms: I believe that intuition is a lost ability to receive messages from God. This is our built in ability to communicate with the universe. Inventors will also tell you that their ideas come from their intuition, or from some unknown source. This source is the spiritual connection we have with God and every being in Heaven and Earth. It is like a spiritual, infinite Google, an unending source of wisdom and knowledge. All we need to do is to tap into it and receive the information it delivers. Modern man is unfortunately taught to rely totally on his reason and logical thinking abilities. Intuition isn't taught. However, if this is indeed our connection to this infinite source of wisdom then wouldn't we be wise to do all we can in order to consciously become aware of it and use it? In order to do so we must learn to trust the instinctive feelings we receive. When reasoning fails to deliver a clear answer, or even before wasting too much time with reason, breathe deep and feel within and discover what your inner being is telling you. The only way to really know this inner voice and to recognize it whenever it is active is to step out on faith and trust it. Only by practice will your intuitive voice become familiar and you will become comfortable to heed its instructions. What experience have you had with your intuition? Would you like to share it here? Permalink Comments (4) What is the Will of God?Posted Wednesday, April 09, 2008 (1 year 213 days ago.) Viewed 43 times. Recent discussions led me to think about this topic, the will of God. Years ago, when my wife and I had just graduated from a Bible College in England, we were working with a group of young people and asked to share about God's will. At that time we were going though a time of decision and found some wise words in the Old Testament of the Bible: 8 I will instruct you and teach you in
the way you should go; 9 Do not be like the horse or the
mule, At that time we understood that to mean we must use our own understanding and not be blindly led like mules who have no understanding. Today I would say the same. Many people when they pray to God finish off by saying, "but your will be done". I have heard many a prayer being uttered with the following pattern: Please God do this, but if not, your will be done. Now I don't know how you feel, but that to me is assuming that God will primarily disagree and not give what is requested. Such a prayer request simply cancels itself out. Tell me, if someone came to you and asked you for something like that (and many people do), would you know if the person was serious or not? For example: "Would you have time to help me? If not it doesn't matter." Now compare that to someone asking for help who really is desperate and needs that help right away: "Would you have time to help me - please - I need your help." When people ask God for something then immediately withdraw with such a SAFETY SENTENCE, do you think God takes them serious. This is the God who tells us to have faith. This is the God who says you WILL receive what you ask for if only you BELIEVE. So what is God's will? Why do so many people insist on placing qualifiers on God's promises. They say you can't ask for that, or request the other, or that's not according to God's will. They are so sincere in trying to protect God's interests that they INVENT excuses for God why He doesn't need to answer our worldly requests. But God does not restrict these promises in any way. We are told by John that if we ask anything according to His will he will hear us (1 John 5:14). And what is according to His will? God's will is exactly what God says. Ask anything believing. (See my article on Faith for a closer look at this.) Do you follow this? God has made it explicitly clear through His ancient servants, and many of His servants today, that His will is for us to ASK BELIEVING and to RECEIVE. This is what the will of God is. He wants to give us what we want. I believe God does not put any restrictions on WHAT we ask for because through the asking and receiving by faith we learn two things: 1. We learn to consider others in our asking. 2. We learn to ask for bigger and better things - growing from faith to faith. Many of the same people who pray self-canceling prayers also criticise and reject modern day teachers who teach faith in connection with the Law of Attraction, thus cementing their disbelief in God's promises. Faith is independent of religion or theology. To ask and believe is a universal provision available to anyone who has a need or desire. Ask believing and you will receive. Its what the Bible says. It is only people who add the complications. Faith then is God's will. Ask anything, no limits, no restrictions, no exclusions. I also believe that when anyone begins to learn this faith that they will also become aware of these great truths of the universe, the laws which have been put in place. God is not dumm. He knows that when you tap into this energy of thought and faith you will discover more and more of the Divine Energy made available to us. Some of you may disagree with those last few comments, but you can't deny that God's will is to ask believing. Permalink Comments (0) |
