Organizing Tips – Accessories You Need to Organize Your Home Office

Posted Wednesday, June 18, 2008 (20 days 14 hours ago.) Viewed 18 times.

Is your home office in disarray?  Are you late paying bills because you can't find them?  Do you feel stressed when you are looking for an important paper and can't find it?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, your home office is undoubtedly in disarray. This might be because of the lack of storage or because you lack systems for managing your bills, important papers and mail.

These organizing accessories will help you control the clutter in your office and keep you so organized you will never pay bills late or become frustrated because you can't find an important paper.

Accordion file folders with multiply dividers can be used to organize a variety of papers and documents.  Some of them have a pocket for each letter of the alphabet and some have the months of the year.  You will find they are ideal for keeping magazine and newspaper clippings organized and easy to find.

If room allows, a bulletin board saves desktop space and allows you to display important information that is readily available.  They can be decorated to be a colorful addition to the home office or simply a place for those important phone numbers, daily reminders and family and school schedules.

Cable clips and ties are a must for managing your desktop computer cables as well as other cords and cables in your home office.  They will eliminate unsightly clutter.  There are many to choose from, such as simple twist-ties and wall-mounted clips to cable clips that conveniently organize up to twelve cables or cords.  ID labels for easy cable identification are also available with some products.

A computer cart may be a consideration if you don't have enough space on your desk to hold your computer and its peripherals.  A computer cart with wheels will give you the flexibility to roll the cart out of sight when company comes.

Desk organizers come in an array of choices.  If room allows, a lazy Susan type of organizer for the desktop provides multiple organizers in one unit.  Drawer organizers are also helpful to manage small, but important office gadgets and supplies.

Metal or wooden file cabinets are standard fare in a home office.  They can be standard metal cabinets or more attractive wooden cabinets that will blend with the rest of your furniture.  My favorites are the cabinets that have a frame that hold hanging folders.  They are more versatile than standard manila folder cabinets.

In/Out trays are very handy for prioritizing your paperwork.  You will find plastic and also wire trays that are stackable and interlocking to save space on your desk.  A shelf within reach of your desk is another place for your in/out tray.

An organizing tip you might not have thought of is to hang a shoe caddy on the back of a closet door that can be used to store office supplies as well as to set up a system for your mail.  They can also be used to keep bills to be paid and correspondence that needs to be acted upon handy and more visible.

Creating an Unforgettable Home Décor – Shabby Chic Style!

Posted Wednesday, May 14, 2008 (55 days 17 hours ago.) Viewed 72 times.

When it comes to home decor, shabby chic is certainly quite popular and for good reason. Not only is shabby chic classy and stylish, it is also easy to pull off if you have a good eye for detail. At the same time, it is easy to go drastically wrong with your dcor if you don't have a good understanding of the shabby chic style.

One of the great advantages of decorating in shabby chic is the fact that you can create the look without spending a great deal of money if you like. In fact, you can take items that you already have in your home and "weather" them by painting them in layers and chipping off pieces of paint or by cleaning up older items that you might already have on hand. At the same time, when it comes to home decor, shabby chic items can be found in abundance at trendy stores online as well as off.

Due to the popularity of this type of home decor, shabby chic retailers are becoming increasingly more common. Nonetheless, one of the best places to look for shabby chic items is online. This is because online retailers are not limited in their store space and, therefore, are capable of offering a wider variety of items to their shoppers.

When implementing shabby chic home decorating ideas, it is important to find the fine line between chic and cheap. Just because an item looks old and weathered, it isn't necessarily chic. Remember, your goal is not to make your home look as if you can't afford new furniture and decorative items! Rather, you are trying to pay homage to vintage styles by displaying high quality pieces that may or may not be as old as they appear to be!

Recognizing Shabby Chic When You See It

Posted Tuesday, May 13, 2008 (56 days 15 hours ago.) Viewed 36 times.

The term "shabby chic" is thrown around quite frequently, but that doesn't mean the term is fully understood. Since the basic definition of the term means that the items used to decorate the room have an old or worn out look, some people believe that any item that is faded or otherwise worn falls into this style category.

The reality is that decorating in a shabby chic style requires more than just gathering together several old items. In fact, the items don't have to be old at all. Rather, they may be new items that are simply created to look old.

There are many ways that new home dcor items can be made to look as if they are much older than they really are. For example, some items can be made to look older by simply applying heavy amounts of paint. By creating several layers and allowing some of the layers to show through, an older look can be created. This can often be accomplished by painting the item and then sanding or rubbing off the top layer until the base coats or the underlying wood or metal is exposed.

In addition to the fact that shabby chic items can be new, creating this dcor in a room also involves coordination. The same basic elements of design still must be maintained when decorating in this style. As such, although the items may be worn and old looking, they should still compliment one another and work together to create an overall pulled together look in the room. Only then will you have successfully pulled off this great design style.

The Top Three Organizing Tips for Those that are Organizationally Challenged

Posted Tuesday, May 13, 2008 (56 days 15 hours ago.) Viewed 23 times.

OK, so you know you have a problem, right? No matter how hard you try to keep your home organized, you just can't seem to pull it off. The reality is that some people are naturally better organized while others are a bit more organizationally challenged. If you fall into the latter category, you can still keep yourself better organized with these three organizing tips.

Keep Things Handy One of the problems that many people face when trying to get organized is keeping organized after the clutter is put away. Therefore, the first of the three organizing tips you need to follow is to find a way to keep certain things handy. If you create a spot for your favorite pair of shoes that is way in the back of the closet, for example, you are less likely to put them away each time you use them. Find out of the way spots for items you use regularly that will still allow them to be easily accessed.

Label, Label, Label Once you get all of your clutter nicely boxed up and stored away, the last thing you want to do is pull it all down to see what is inside. Therefore, the second of the three organization tips you should follow is to put labels on the outside of the boxes and, put the label on all four sides. This way, you can tell what is inside from any angle.

Take Notes The last of the three organization tips you should utilize is to take note of where you put certain items. We have all experienced the phenomenon of putting something away in a place where you won't forget it or where it won't get lost. Yet, somehow, these are the very items we can never find. Make a list of where you put certain items in something that won't get lost, such as in the back of your phone book. That way, you have an easy resource to help you find your lost goodies!

Organizing Tips for the Home Office

Posted Monday, May 12, 2008 (57 days 9 hours ago.) Viewed 13 times.

One of the rooms that has a tendency to get disorganized and untidy is the home office. In many cases, the home office becomes a dumping ground for paperwork and other items that need a home. By following these simple organizing tips, however, you can regain control of your home office and make your items much easier to find.

One of the first organizing tips you can implement in your home office is to simply purchase a few organizational items. A filing cabinet will go a long way toward keeping your paperwork organized. If you purchase a multi-tiered tray, you can keep your paperwork organized until the time comes to file it away. For example, you might have one tray set aside for items that need to be filed, one tray for items that you still need to tend to, and another for those items that you only need to hang onto temporarily.

When organizing your home office, you also want to create a space that is easy to utilize. Purchase drawer organizers for use inside your desk drawers as well as desktop organizers. Put items that you do not need on a frequent basis inside the drawers, while items that you use more regularly should be kept on your desktop. Don't try to cram all of your pencils and pens into the desktop organizer. Remember, the key to following organizing tips is to make things easier to find, so keep the desktop uncluttered and make items easy to access.

There are many different storage devices and organizational items for the home office. By purchasing some of these items and utilizing these simple organizing tips, you can reclaim your home office and make it a functional component of your household once more.
