What does "transgenic" mean?

It literally means "genes across".

Transgenic organisms are organisms that have been genetically altered to include DNA from a different species.

By "implanting" genetic material from other organisms, we have created frost-resistant tomatoes and fluorescent zebrafish, among other things.
