Anybody know anything about skin moles?

This isn't a trick question. I've had a mole behind my ear for ages, then overnight it turned painful, and the skin around it and my ear are hot. Does this mean it's a melanoma - or better still, does it mean it isn't one?

Hi Jennifer sorry to hear of your discomfort. To be honest I am just in the dark as you are about moles, but the one thing I do know is, they do say if there is any change in a mole have your doctor take a look. So it can't hurt to pop along to your GP to put your mind at rest

Keep well

Hi Kacy, thanks for responding. I realized I have others, as well, so am just going to take everybody's advice and see a dermatologist and, as you say, put my mind at rest.

I know I have a lot of them- especially on my back- I always get the Doc to check them since I can't see them- I have a dark flat one on my left cheek- some one said- oh- you have a beauty mark- I looked at them and said- "That's not a beauty mark- it's a damned mole!" Just keep a watch on them Jenn......

The one behind your ear may not be a mole- some of the ones I thought were moles- were not- She called them something else, I forgot what- but said they were not dangerous- you probably injured that one somehow- Check it out!

That's exactly what I might have done, Ella, thanks. I looked up on the internet, and saw there's an-rememberable name for some kinds that can become melanomas, but don't always. I think this one fits that description, so am going to a dermatologist tomorrow. Too bad about the beauty mark! :)

Probably due to some virus infection that caused the burning sensation & my advice is go see a doctor right away lest you keep worrying.

I personally have some on back and other parts of the body...

Thanks, Hilda, what you said is very reassuring. I'm going to the doc tomorrow.

Sounds like an infection or sometimes melanomas can become quite painful and change rapidly. Your question was asked a long time ago. How did it turn out?

They are called skin tags same thing maybe? I had mine removed with a scapel off my face because they were irritating me this will leave no mark whereas if you remove it with laser I heard it leaves a mark.
