How much would a good mountain bicycle cost?

I realize that a good mountain bicycle in India will cost not less than $650. If I add a few 100 or 200 more then I will be able to afford a used Enfield bike. I am still wondering if I can manage to a get a secondhand mountain bicycle with probably 4 gears or 3 gears which could come handy while passing the mountains.

You really have a big dream DM to cycle mountain over mountain but first of all, you should consult your local organization that may advise you what kind of mountain bike for such a trip. I have heard one from here called the Safari but they use 4WD .

I just looked up on Facebook today and found a wonderful link with all the details on the type of bicycle, and all kinds of stuff.

Oh thanks! Somebody posted on the net that it costs abut 600 dollars. I even checked with one of the retailers from UK and they had mountain bikes for different price ranges. I am keenly looking forward to get one.
