How come you can kill a deer and put it up on your wall. But it's illegal to keep one as a pet?

Is it? I didn't know that. I thought it was more an issue of zoning. Sorry, this really isn't an answer to the question; only a comment on it. Does that mean that I am legally obligated to pick up the apples that fall out of our neighbors tree onto our property? The deer come by and eat them and I have thought of them as our "pet" deer.
You can sometimes legally kill an armed intruder who breaks into your home, but you can't keep them as a permanent prisoner there against their will.
But yeah, it doesn't make much sense :)

The one on the wall no longer realizes he has been caught; while the one in a pen continues to suffer.
