Why do people get homesick?
*** Because they need to clean their house! :)
They are not used to being away from home the first time they go away. The next time they go away, homesickness isn't so bad.
Because they like the predictability of knowing what to expect (noise levels, water pressure, clean sheets etc) and this in itself reduces stress and makes one feel relaxed at "at home."

If for a student at a young age feeling homesick is because of loneliness and unfamiliarity , no friends and no warm place to go back to, no regular home -cooked food no daddy mummy kisses etc . As for the adults guess they miss their other halves plus the children if they are still small. Otherwise because they landed in a place where it is totally strange to them. No place is like home is exactly true!
