1. That's how you put them in the washer.

2. You have a super speed spinning washer, and just as people get their clothes torn off in a tornado, your clothes may be getting turned inside out due to swirling water. If your clothes aren't shredded, though, that is probably not happening.

3. The clothes are doing something naughty in there. :)

I'm going to say that it is because they were inside out when you put them into the washing machine. That has been my experience, especially with my husband's clothes. It's all in the manner in which he disrobes.

It sounds like people assume that, but that's not the case. Maybe I should have qualified the question with a little more information. I guess Kevin Davey's #2 above might be right.

You washed them that way. Either that, or the tumbling process possibly turns and tosses the clothing in the process.

My granddaughter can answer this one without fail. Since she's not writing the answer tonight though, I'll give it a go. It's simple really. You pull off your clothes - over your head, from the waist down, from the ankles to the toes - you know, you strip them in a hurry and they land where they fall. Then when you get the dirty looks or the finger pointed at your dirty room, you scoop everything up and put it in the laundry. The clothes are washed, thrown into the dryer and, presto! Out they come, yep, inside out. Each and every one of them. Upps, did I say granddaughter? I think this probably applies to a great many of us. Funny thing - I know at least two people who do this with their clothes routinely - one wash the clothes are inside out and the next time they are right side out.

It's the "Socks Gremlins" rifling through the clothing looking for socks to steal. Try turning your clothes inside out prior to placing them in the laundry and they should come out OK.

There's a monster that does it. Like the one who steals socks and biro tops.

They're a little shy when they're wet, so they hide inside out... :-)
