I will never forget looking at my baby girl while she slept, with her back propped up in her crib. She smiled, then she laughed. Her face seemed to change colors like an octopus. My wife wanted to take a picture of her, but at the last minute I halted her, because I was afraid the flash would wake her from her beautiful dream.

It seems to me they would, probably amazing dreams - those little brains developing. I used to watch my babies sleep and it was fun to watch the expressions on their faces, but then again, could be gas :-)

Neonates appear to REM,most of the time,oddly enough;since there is little life experience for them to 'review',(although I am sure that Jung and Freud were dead wrong about the nature of dreams and dreaming,itself)their REMs must be recent Heaven centered experience recollections,as they just got here, from there.

I think babies have good dreams if they are in a loving home, and probably dream of the happiness of their families. Experience is relative. A baby encounters a lot of sensations and interactions in a single day.

I'm not sure.

They could dream, but they may also give off smiles and other sorts of behavior and expressions because their muscular and nervous systems are fragile and still developing. The rapid chemical changes they experience just may be the culprit. However, it doesn't meant they're not dreaming sometimes and at other times experiencing chemical changes. Both are highly likely!

Since they have brains, and since they obviously have REM sleep, I would assume they do dream.

I like the answers of watching babies sleep and the expressions on their little faces ~ they can't all be having gas pains, so I say even with a mind that is barely developed, they do connect to a source of higher consciousness.
