Do you think we are more negative or less negative as we age?

What is your own personal experience in this matter. Do you think you are more positive as you age or are life's problems making you less positive. Is there a fine line between reality and being positive? Thanks ahead of time for responding.. Fran Larson

We become more cynical as we grow older, i think.

I was afraid that was going to be the answer. I am trying not to be more cynical, but things happen and you are disillusioned. Fran

Welcome Fran! Depends on what situation we are in. It's always positive versus negative. About the age, well, also the mindset. Older wiser. A bad situation can be under control when we become positive. Mind you, people can make you negative, the everyday events, friends and family.

I know being around negative people (energy) is very depressing but we all have times when we are discouraged. Thanks for your good thoughts. Fran Larson

I think it's entirely individual. I know I am less negative. I truly enjoy life and thank God every day for giving me life and health (sort of). I have experienced enough that I am more accepting of people and their faults. I have mine, too. My husband, on the other hand, is a challenge. He is more negative each day he lives. Perhaps his experiences have been different than mine, or maybe he just processes experiences differently than I do.

I know what you mean. My husband is negative and I use a lot of my energy to fight that negativity. I think he is getting some better, though.

This is a tough question. But I think this depends on two things. Firstly it depends on the life experiences. If the experiences from past are good and satisfying then the person stays positive, but if there are certain mishappenings and there are no fond memories then the person's overall outlook becomes negative. Secondly it depends on the current health of the person. A healthy body leads to healthy mind and vice versa.

I think I have been positive because I have always taken the things to their merit..

I think it also is how you are raised...have you always heard negative remarks, etc.

A few years ago I read an interview with Warren Buffet who said that age and money are personality multipliers. I've thought about this over the years and I think he's right.

If you are negative when you are young or poor, you'll be more negative when you're old or rich.

My goal is to be happy and gracious while I'm young so I'll be even more happy and gracious when I'm old, though I fear I'm running out of time!

I have heard the same thing...if you are negative when you are young and poor, you'll be more negative when you're old and rich.

"Less negative" isn't the same as "more positive". Is that option allowed?
