Sometimes bad parents produce good kids. If there parent doesn't teach their children, then I don't think they can take much credit for their successful children.

Or good parents produce bad kids? ( I can't agree more) But many people may not agree with this saying because there aren't good parents nor bad children. It is just the positive and the negative conflict around the environment clashing clashing...

My parents disciplined me and taught me a lot of things. If their way of disciplining were not as effective as they want it to be, and they tried the best they could, then they did not fail.

This is a very warming reflect from Nenita and I am impressed with her family's effort on disciplining her while growing up. They did not fail as parents.

Sure. Successful parenting depends on the actions of the parents regardless of their career success.

Good parenting skills don't guarantee that the kids will turn out right, but the percentage is a whole lot better than for children whose parents neglect to discipline or teach them in lieu of a successful career pursuit.

I can't agree with you more
Answer from Stephen Fischer (147) 22 days 1 hour ago. More questions answered by this person)
That's a tricky question. Consider the converse. If a parent would do everything right (whatever that means) and the children turn out to be failures, would you call the parents successful? Probably not. I'm also not inclined to call poor parents of successful children actual successes themselves. Alas, we can do our best -or worse - as parents but, as each of us are creatures of free will, there are no assurances of outcome.

Then, there's the issue of "successful in their career" part. A successful career is only a small portion of someone's life. If a person has a successful career but is a miserable individual, then that's not success in life.

Successful (rich) parents with disobedient wayward children like some of the big names here. yes or no?
Answer from Alice Owen (360) 20 days 7 hours ago. More questions answered by this person)
No of course not. It's just a question of communication and understanding. Many parents see their children turning into violent or defiant teenagers and just don't know what they did wrong. And they're not bad parents. They just acted based on what they knew : their own parents.

Being parents really requires being open minded and willing to change our way of thinking, trying to perceive the world through our children's eyes, being able to talk with appropriate words and so on. It's not easy. But nobody said it would be ! :)

But of course the most important thing is being able to communicate love, give love, express it, hug kids and be a good person as much as we can because we're role models to our children and should never, ever forget it.

Of course they can be considered a failure if they don't care enough to try to draw lines in the sand. However, some kids are really strong willed and no matter what the parent tries to teach, shrug it off (this from a pediatric RN of many years experience) Marijo
