No because I don't really think anybody knows for sure that it is over. I mean look how long it took before anyone even admitted that there was a recession. I will believe it when unemployment decreases and peolple get their jobs back.

Feels great, man. No, I mean it. Ok, I guess it doesn't feel any different.

I think my greatest fear is that we get through this recession without learning the lessons of what got caused it in the first place, and so the mistakes will be repeated until we have an even greater recession. eeek!

The recession is not over. Unemployment is still at a staggering rate and the politics surrounding the unemployment and business sector is so convoluted that there is no clear mark that it's gotten better. The only reason many are thinking it's getting better, is because the media is telling us that it is. However, as many know, the media only tells us what they think we want to hear and not the full facts. When the unemployment rate declines, businesses are able to stay afloat and people in general can once again afford to make life comfortable again, I'll believe the recession is over.

there are still many, many unemployed. My husband is back to work but 2 of the 4 superintendents are not and they lost profit sharing, vacation and holidays. In july apparently those who count quit counting those who ran out of time for unemployment benefits and were still looking for work or had given up - am not sure it is over or if the stats are being looked at differently - have several friends in different states about to lose their homes still..... Wow. I hadn't heard that. And officially, my husband has just been cut back to only two days a week at work. So from my point of view, it's only just beginning. I guess I'd have to go for "bitter" at this moment. :)

The state where I lived is third in the nation for unemployment (13%) just below Michigan and Las Vegas, with that fact being said, the great recession is not over. Negative.

This is so funny.

Housing took a downturn, it was announced that we were in a recession, the economy craters.

Suddenly the media announces that it's over, and although nothing is improving, suddenly housing starts going back up. People are funny.

So, we are media driven creatures?
