Have you ever given a gift to a 3rd party (like a Compassion child) instead of giving another polo shirt to a family member?

Yes, it is a lot more rewarding. I wish we didn't exchange Christmas gifts in our family. No one really needs anything. It seems like a waste. I don't want to seem like a grouch, but I would rather give to someone who really needs it.

I hear you and have written a piece about this. My hubby has a closet full of polo shirts he rarely, if ever, wears. The house is decorated. We do love eating at Outback but..... I have given a family and "best friends" gift of a child at Compassion for a number of years now - I share her letters with them and etc. We love this and most of them indicate they do too. Marijo

It is the most fun, isn't it? We have had Compassion kids for some time now - when they write and say that they have never had a bed before and your gift helped them get one and they send a photo of what we'd consider a camping mattress.... oh, we are SO blessed and to be able to share with families who have not even enough to eat - it touches my heart.
