The Benefits Of Using An Insurance Comparison Website

Posted Sunday, July 06, 2008 (1 hour 40 minutes ago.) Viewed 1 times.

There seems to be an ever increasing number of insurance comparison websites and I have to say that they have personally saved me hundreds of pounds over the last few years. In this article I will be writing about the benefits of using these types of websites.

Whether it is pet insurance, buildings and contents insurance or car insurance it can be quite a shock when you receive your annual renewal notice. It seems that every year the price that was quoted on the renewal would be higher than what I had originally paid.

Prior to the birth of these insurance comparison websites I would find myself, at the renewal time, having to telephone round different insurance companies, normally the ones that were listed in the yellow pages, hoping to obtain a cheaper quote than the one that I had been quoted on the renewal notice. As you can no doubt imagine, or even remember if you went through a similar process yourself, this was an extremely time consuming, long winded and frustrating job. I would normally be able to gain a cheaper price for the insurance however it would seemingly take me all day.

Thanks to the newly formed revolution of the insurance comparison websites the whole process has been made far quicker and easier. From filling in a simple form you are usually just a few clicks away from receiving numerous amounts of different quotes. In the majority of cases at least one of these quotes would prove to be cheaper than the one on the renewal notice.

If I have been happy with my current insurer I normally contact them and state something like; I have received your renewal notice, I have however have found a far cheaper quote on an insurance comparison website. I have been happy with your service and would prefer to stay with your company. Would you be happy to match their quote? In the majority of cases they answer in the positive.

Do You Have A Five Year Goal?

Posted Sunday, July 06, 2008 (2 hours 24 minutes ago.) Viewed 2 times.

Do you plan ahead? Do you set yourself targets and goals? Are you aware of the importance of setting yourself short and longer term goals? I am not really sure how each of the readers of this article will have answered these questions. The simple fact of the matter is people who do set themselves future goals will without doubt be more successful than people who do not and in this article I will explain why this is.

Around ten years ago a famous company commissioned a survey which was based around this subject of setting targets and goals. One hundred students, who had just completed their studies and who therefore were about to enter into the world of work, were asked the following question:

"Where will you be and what will you be doing in five years time?"

There was a mixed return of answers as one might expect. A number of students were either too immature or were not completing the survey in a serious manner and wrote answers such as:

"I do not care."

This was something which the group who were asked to organise the survey were expecting. In the end out of the one hundred students who took part in the survey only seven of them gave what was considered to be a full and thought out five year goal.

Five years later the one hundred people were contacted and asked to answer a further serious of questions. There was quite an amazing end result to all of this work in that the total net worth of the seven people who had had a goal was worth more than the ninety three added together.

The results and findings of this survey have been included in many a motivational speech and was something that I thought would be of interest to the readers of my articles.

Therapy For Children Who Have A Stutter

Posted Saturday, July 05, 2008 (1 day 9 hours ago.) Viewed 3 times.

Stuttering is a speech impediment which is a frustration for all of those people who are affected by it. It can be extremely frustrating for the parents of children who have a stutter. They try desperately to help their young sibling however often find it difficult to find suitable and beneficial therapy for stuttering. It is also, of course, very frustrating for the person who has the stutter. Being unable to speak fluently is often embarassing and can have a deeply negative affect on one's confidence.

There are various forms of stuttering therapy for children. The majority of parents would start by booking their child into see their local speech therapist, after all this form of treatment is normally free. I had a stuttering problem throughout my childhood and my experiences with traditional speech therapists were far from a positive one, in truth it only added to the frustration.

It was not because the speech therapists were not caring or trying their best to help me, it was more the fact that they did not fully comprehend want it was like to have this form of speech impediment. I was told, by more than one speech therapist, that there was no known cure for stuttering and that I needed to try to accept the fact that I had a stutter. This for me was a rather negative attitude and one that was quite defeatist, perhaps they could not be bothered to try to find a cure. I knew that I could, at times, as fluently as the next person. For example when I was on my own I did not have the slightest hint of a stammer or stutter.

After realising that speech therapists are unable to help their child to overcome their stutter, parents will often then look for some private specialised stuttering therapy. This is likely to prove to be of more benefit however to succeed at making the fluency techniques work and is hard work and practice. Their child needs to be aware of this, in the majority of cases the child in questions will be more than happy to work hard if it is likely to result in them overcoming their stutter.

Tips To Help Increase Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem

Posted Saturday, July 05, 2008 (1 day 15 hours ago.) Viewed 1 times.

Do you have a low self-esteem? Would you like to discover new techniques that could help you to increase your overall confidence levels? If you have answered yes to either or both of these questions then this article may well be worth a read.

I know all about having a low self-esteem. For the first twenty-two years of my life people would have thought of me as somebody who had a lack of confidence, these people were right.

So why did I have such a lack of confidence? Well in truth there were a number of reasons not least the fact that I had a speech impediment. I had developed a stutter when I was a young child and despite my best efforts it had a very damaging affect on my self-esteem/confidence.

Other reasons included the fact that I have a bald patch on my head, I was over-weight and also that I am quite short for a man. Now I am fairly sure that for people who have an inner confidence that these reasons may seem to be a bit tame, they would probably say, who cares if you have got a bald patch on your head, if you are short in height, if you are overweight or if you have a speech defect? I now fully agree with this sentiment, yes who cares?

To gain confidence that is what we need to become, stronger, less paranoid and we need to stop worrying about what other people think of us.

We have to start focusing and appreciating what we do have in life rather than stressing about what we don't.

The Language Of The Inner City – Respect, Revenue And Revenge

Posted Saturday, June 28, 2008 (8 days 1 hour ago.) Viewed 5 times.

The police are trying to crack down on knife and gun attacks. Many of these crimes are gang related and unfortunately the people in power, the policy makers, are normally totally out of tune with the problems and way of life on the street. They are normally government ministers, people who have had a private education and a privileged upbringing. It is about time they sought the advice of the people in the know, youth workers who live and breathe in the same communities as the people who are committing these crimes.

Gang and gun related crime is without doubt on the increase. Government officials can say whatever they want, the quote latest figures normally stating that crime levels are falling. Ask anyone in an inner city if they feel safer today than they did five years ago. The majority will most certainly say no.

Many of the gang members have been bought up watching movies and television which shows the bad man getting all the girls, driving the flash cars and wearing the best clothes. They see their gang leader living a similar type of life and they then want the same.

A typical gang member will come from an unstable family background. They will not feel particularly happy at home and will see the gang as their family. The gang will look out for them; help them when they are in trouble. What many people see as bad to them is acting with good intentions. They then see the so called bad as being good. Very confusing I know.

Many shootings and knife attacks are in revenge for some past misdemeanor. Revenge is one of the three "r's" on the site. The other two being respect and revenue. Revenue is about how you can earn money and how much, respect should no explanation.

Do you think any government official will be able to tell you what the three r's are? I doubt it and that explains the main problem and why they are failing in their attempts to reduce knife and gun crime.
