This is Something that I Simply Must Say But in a BIG, BIG way….

Posted Thursday, November 12, 2009 (8 days 14 hours ago.) Viewed 57 times.

The day when Christians observe the birth of Christ is just a little over a month away, and it's marvelous that people are beginning to take more of a stand against commercializing Christmas and taking the Christ out of the holiday.

It just is not simply a holiday for everyone to celebrate in a pagan way, but a special day set aside on our calendars to observe the birth of Jesus Christ. If anyone gets offended because Christians decide to shout MERRY CHRISTMAS from the rooftops, so-be-it.

It also is not a Winter Break and a place to toss presents under a Dream Tree. Let me reiterate "Christ is the reason for the Christmas Season," and if anyone doesn't like it, let them continue to observe their special holiday(s) on the day they choose, but just do not force us to be kind and thoughtful by taking the Christ out of Christmas.

Let's all join in with "Merry Christmas" throughout the season and even beyond! Christians know Christ as our Savior and Lord, so remember to pray at all tables as well and pray for our soldiers and all our military who go through a living hell to keep freedom ringing.

Just know that our Lord is always there to keep that freedom and justice for all when "In God We Trust." God bless you this Thanksgiving and Christmas and all year around and enjoy this song entitled "Christmas With a Capital C."

Fancy Fall and Munchkins Dancing in Magical Fields

Posted Friday, October 16, 2009 (35 days 22 hours ago.) Viewed 337 times.

Fall has arrived so very early this year ~ we barely kissed summer goodbye before a chill filled the air with October feeling more like late November.  We all cranked on the furnaces prematurely in the midwestern states but many of us still wish for an Indian Summer. Even with frigid temps and the furnace kicking on intermittently throughout the day and night, my zinnias still bloom daily and the grass mysteriously grows.

As we still hope and pray for milder temperatures for leisure walking along the river banks and parks nearby, the imagination brilliantly spins imagery of skipping through magical fields, and I share with you a poem of those visions that dance in my head.

Fancy Fall

Little Suzy munchkin is on her way to town,
Adorned colorfully in a 'Chanel' autumn gown
In such a scurry to get there, no time to spare,
Many places to journey before the trees go bare

A visit to Mr. Scarecrow is the first part of the plan,
He'll be out in the field yearning to see her again
Suzy asks, "do you like my new gown, my dear,"
While batting her eyelashes and blushing ear to ear

Then off to another path, Suzy dashes feverishly away,
Waving farewell, her heart tugging from fun of the day -
Suddenly Suzy turns and out of the corner of her eye,
A huge, dazzling, Jack-O'-Lantern carriage she did spy

Such a delightful thrill to open the huge sliding door,
And climb inside and be surrounded by candy galore -
Chocolates and nuts Suzy ate to her heart's content,
Wondering if she could ever top such a blessed event

Then away the coach went flying, over tops of trees,
Passing birds so high in the air but comfortably at ease,
They landed in a village lined in pumpkins everywhere -
A sight to truly hold dear, all Suzy could do was stare

While Suzy gazes at red leaves fallin' here and there,
A whimsical and magical feeling is felt in twilight air -
Then over hilltops baby munchkins appear so small,
Jumping and playing merrily in tune with Fancy Fall

Heart in delight from the wondrous beauty of it all,
Mind filled with glorious memories so big and small,
Suzy hopes to share with her many friends so tiny
This bright, splendid October day so amazingly shiny,

"The end"

Memories of a Favorite Concert Peppered with Sorrow & Pain...

Posted Wednesday, September 30, 2009 (51 days 15 hours ago.) Viewed 64 times.

I attended a Winter Jam tour spectacular last night and it blew my mind! It was definitely one of the best, if not the best, concert I have ever attended! All the artists did an amazing job getting the crowd involved and leading a rocked-out worship experience! I believe there were 2,809 people who accepted Christ into their lives and that was an all-time record for any Winter Jam concert.

Groups that entertained were Mercy Me, Skillet, Barlow Girl, New Song, and Mandisa ~ and more.

People of all ages were in the crowd, which I would estimate to be close to 10,000 ~ it was jam packed and the wait outside in the bitter-winter weather was worthwhile and thank goodness the snake of a line that had many bends leading to the coliseum entrance was slow moving and not standing still most of the time. It was around 15 degrees ~ definitely not over 20 degrees and the journey took about an hour (smile). My friend and I laughed because of creating a memory that would be carved within the recesses of our minds forever and yet not knowing, at that particular time, what awaited in the awesome sound of sanctioned music and spiritual experience.

I might add that this particular concert closed a work week that was one of the most emotionally charged ever; and I give thanks and sing praises to my Lord for placing them together, so I could be lifted to a higher ground. I have two work buddies who hold key positions ~ they are very close friends and have been going through health challenges for quite some time. This week unfolded a complete diagnosis for Carla who had been diagnosed with lung cancer; and we thought it to be not-so-aggressive but in just two months time it has spread from her lungs to her lymph nodes, spine and brain ~ all of this news was going on around us while in a very fast-paced work environment ~ Then Cathy, who has been in the hospital for about a week awaiting a heart transplant, had begun internal bleeding ~ the doctors have been running many tests in a process of elimination and when I left work yesterday, she was still in surgery having a lymph node removed to determine if she might have leukemia ~ if any fatal illness resides in her body, she will not be eligible for the heart.

All in all, God is good and I give him all the glory for my recent experience and continue to pray for my friends who have a fighting spirit to live but have also accepted their circumstances which may bring a different outcome.

I am attaching a Mercy Me link only because they played last and it was so, so wonderful ~ in the sidelines of this U-tube there are additional songs besides "Homesick." "Here With Me" is so awesome also.

And thank you, Nik, my dear Aussie friend, for continuing to bring a glorious closure to my day for posting such a beautiful poem dedicated to me ~ just another affirmation, that you can never out give God ~ he is truly AWESOME ~ in the midst of our sorrow, he never fails to bring us JOY...

I post this because of my love of Jesus and the awesome music he sends our way at the most unexpected moments. Carla passed away shortly after I wrote this article, and I still think of all the things she used to do and say that would have me laughing for days and days ~ she was a rascal and had a strong will to live but God had another plan. My friend, Cathy, lives on with her new heart in an amazing way with her new husband.

I added later another U-tube because of the many people who are barely holding on for one reason or another and that is what this musical video is about ~ I did have a friend that took her life over this past Labor Day holiday ~ amazing how some who are sick have such strong wills to live but die and those that are sick choose to end their own lives. I know that Julie had been to a clinic and was to return for more testing before taking her own life with an undiagosed illness but I am guessing Parkinsons (a very young woman and we just never know what people are experiencing in their lives).

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12.

A Hot August Day on the Farm Spirited with a Dumb-Arse Attack

Posted Thursday, September 03, 2009 (78 days 16 hours ago.) Viewed 1,536 times.

Even though I often see myself as a vision of hope and light, there are times when I have to wonder if the rest of the world has similar dumb-arse attacks like me. I also find it possible and most likely many of us consume occasional glasses of red wine for health purposes or just because we want to indulge in the aged spirit of grapes.

At the benefit of having 40 laughs a day for several days and more, I had a horrific attack and also suffered embarrassment to the Nth degree.

It all began on a hot August afternoon at a friends country home where I was invited to dine ~ part of the charm of the day was pitching in to bring our favorite dishes to share with one another. We were quite excited at the plan to indulge our taste buds.

Secretly I thanked my lucky stars there was finally an occasion to toss that special piece of roast to the lower level of the refrigerator for defrosting before the freezer took serious hold of it ~ the super cut of meat from the London area of the cow turned out to be more scrumptious than we could imagine despite the warnings about red meat.

When I got to Ricardo's house, he put me in charge of pouring the raspberry tea and wine along with designing the crescent rolls which would serve as a rendezvous with fresh butter and country jam. I must say I was very much at home with the Australian Shiraz wine while laboriously perfecting the artistry of folding the crescent rolls for baking in the oven.

Then, my friend added as a spectacular chef's accompaniment, mashed potatoes dazzled with heavy cream and fresh green beans swimming in a pound of bacon. Both sides were fattened from almost non-caloric dishes to ones that would most certainly clog the arteries and cause our hearts to beat with a spirited rhythm.

I just never realized that such divine embellishments would be added to the dishes, so I had recklessly purchased a turtle pie dessert from the freezer department of famous foods known to be exquisitely better than sex. Actually, the whole meal was quite climatic.

Then the final course was one of hilarity and at my expense ~ we embarked upon a walk to work off some of the sinful food/drink and ended up eventually at a neighbor's garden. I was introduced to Roberto once again who appeared to be passionately guarding the fenced-in area with his body and soul.

It was a marvelous garden ~ I commented on an orange budding flower and Roberto excitingly took me to a fully-developed specimen of that bud which was a green squash.duh, green, not golden!!

Now precisely at this moment and out of nowhere, I heard voices calling me to pick it. I can only defend my dumb-arse attack by the mere fact that my arteries were clogging and the red wine was intermittently clearing the process causing a huge turmoil in the function of my body and brain.

Yep, I about fell off the four-inch, Sketcher Sandals to bend down and pick that baby squash and hand it to Roberto who was a saddened and shocked parent.

I was hoping for a recovery from the embarrassment by having him tell me to take it home and give it lots of love and sunlight, but his facial expression never recovered from the shock of my picking his precious squash.

I sheepishly placed it back on the ground to ripen off the vine and then burst out in laughter to the point that there would be no recovery on my part either.

Ricardo and I continued walking on the lumpy ground together and thought it likely that I would end up losing my balance and roll around in the grass convulsing with laughter. We laughed for days and are still laughing at my stupidity. We have shared the story over and over and people go into stitches.

I confess that I still cringed a little while writing this, but the special dumb incident was worth every ounce of embarrassment. I hope you enjoyed the imperfection that made a perfect day and has continued to lighten our hearts for many days and will for days to come and I ask, "Squash anyone?" We can only hope for more times together in a field of silly activity and ripened vineyard moments.

"Some people hear voices ~ some see invisible people ~ others have no imagination whatsoever ~ eat, drink and be merry ~ do stupid things faster with more energy J " Uli
