Even worse, the lack of clean, safe drinking water kills nearly 4,500 children per day, and over five million people die from waterborne diseases every year. Since these statistics are so horrific, it would be easy to allow your mind to say "it can't be possible" or "that's only happening in small regions of the world" in order to cope with it. But sadly, the painful reality is that it is happening everywhere. It is estimated that a third of the world's population now lives in water-stressed countries. Current projections show that this number could rise to a total of two thirds by 2025. And a recent report shows that the water crises intensified by drought may leave more than 11.5 million people in alone in need of food aid in the next six months." I would like to raise awareness of the need to save and conserve our natural resources including water. I would raise awareness by writing articles so that people would think and be able to see how easy it is to help themselves and the world. All this saving and not wasting our resources will in the long run cost us less and not deplete our global resources. This will in turn help us reduce global warming and we can use less electricity and gas to produce and pump water around pipes when there is a tremendous amount of it available free. I would like to raise awareness of these rain water collecting tanks to be installed in Africa where drought would affect the people less and less people would die if these rain water collecting tanks were installed. Poor people in Africa could afford to grow their own crops and not starve due to drought.
