It is time to ring the "Liberty Bell" and celebrate the birth of our nation! As we follow tradition and celebrate Independence Day in these great United States of America; we are reminded of our proudest secular holiday. On July 4, 1776, the continental congress assembled in the state of Philadelphia and announced that it had adopted the Declaration of Independence from the mother country, Great Britain. Two constitutions were adopted. These adoptions guaranteed that all people were created equal.. And that the government would protect the unalienable rights. of all of its citizens. The adoption of said documents clearly revealed that the cornerstone of our nation's freedom depended largely on a strong constitution. It is vital to the survival of all citizens that the integrity of this constitution is not compromised. Our greatest challenge is to understand and appreciate the gravity of the sacrifices made by our founders in an effort to gain the privileges we enjoy today. On Independence Day, we are once again reminded of the liberties we share. Our gratitude should be deepened as we remember the price others paid to help obtain and sustain our freedom. Many of our citizens who paid high prices for freedom and the cause of liberty have been forgotten. No matter what else may be demanding our attention during this solemn holiday let us take time to remember the un-payable debt we owe forgotten warriors who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we often take for granted. We must always remember how abundantly blessed we are as citizens of these great United States of America. On this 4 th day of July as we celebrate our freedom americans around the globe are gathering for observances. Heartfelt greetings are being expressed. Patriotic songs ring out as bells toll. As we observe this glorious holiday season with Red White and Blue flags soaring across our nation; Stars and Stripes validate the rights of man to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. God Bless America! "Let freedom ring!" Permalink Comments (25) A Father's WisdomPosted Tuesday, June 16, 2009 (144 days 12 hours ago.) Viewed 505 times. Food For Thought What kind of Father are you? Life-changing nuggets of wisdom and knowledge must be transferred
by fathers to their children as they strive to lead by example. Fathers not only give their children life but they are also required to teach them how to live. In order to be an effective father one must spend quality time with his children. It is required of fathers to love their children unconditionally because this world in which they are entering through the birth process, is very conditional. Fathers must strive to navigate their children through formative years which are full of challenges and demands. In a world of mental and emotional challenges it is required of fathers to help their children succeed. It is not enough just to be present, fathers must be actively involved and vigorously interested participants in the child-rearing process. While it is very important for fathers to be good disciplinarians they must also be good mentors. As children start to transition through the teenage years a father's role changes slightly but his responsibility remains the same. He must strive to keep the lines of communication open with his children by being a good listener without passing judgment.
The sixth chapter and fourth verse of Ephesians says, "Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord." As we honor all good fathers on their very special day we must remember to honor them by what we do and say. We must honor them by recognizing how much they are valued as they diligently accept their very special challenges as developers of good fruit, wisdom and understanding.
The challenges are great when traveling on the rough roads of life; but when you are equipped with ideals to give you direction and realism to give you traction, you will courageously become beacons of light treading out the path leading future generations down the road to successful accomplishments. Happy Fathers Day to all good fathers! Permalink Comments (42) A Surge Of Emotional TurmoilPosted Sunday, May 31, 2009 (161 days 3 hours ago.) Viewed 31 times.
God, please stop the storm
That is raging all around me.
Uncertainties of life...
Engulf my soul. Over my head,
I sense trouble in the air.
Does anyone really care? My days are dark.
My clouds are thick. The beautiful garden Where my heart once lived Has turned to stone. I feel all alone.
As I pass through, The deep waters of my destiny, I need an anchor To hold me firm and steady,
And shelter me,
From the rising tide... Lest I drift, further
Into the sea of despair.
Does anyone really care?
Consumed by anger and confusion,
Emotions like rushing flood waters, Searching for a way out of the wilderness of
Overwhelming disappointments. Struggles and difficulties abound... I am at a breaking point.
I need to make a connection. God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob... Ease my burden, Lighten my load.
Deliver me from fear
And Disillusion.
I need assurance of Your grace and power,
Quiet my tormented soul. Permalink Comments (2) |
