I have used Gallery Glass Window Color products for years and let me just say, projects can be as simple as a window cling or as elaborate as a Tiffany Window.
1 – Leading
§ The project pattern is placed UNDER the acrylic surface.
§ Actual Stained Glass is created with leaded sections of cut glass. This process is created by using a non toxic Liquid Lead by followingalong the lines of the pattern much like piping a cake to create a leaded area. Allow the lead to cure at LEAST 8 hours before continuing.
2 - Painting
§ Paint is available in pre-mixed colors, you should be able to find a palette that works for your decor. Word of caution, the wet color is not the color it will be when completely dry. You will notice the pattern has numbers on it along with dotted lines and arrows. The numbers show what colors to apply to each area of the design. Paint by Number?
§ Yes, exactly. This is “paint by number" stained glass! It is soooo easy!
§ Apply paint color(s) as indicated to ONE leaded section at a time using the tip of the bottle.
§ Using the metal combing tool (nutpick) pointed end down, rake back and forth through the paint from one side of the leaded section to the other FOLLOWING the direction of the arrows (if applicable) are listed on the pattern. Finish a section before going to the next.
§ Allow all paint to completely dry undisturbed for at least 8 hours.
3 - Enjoying
§ Leave unframed and display on a plate stand in front of a window or frame and hang in a window to allow light to filter through the colors.
