There are many ways to market yourself as a new music artist. Now that the internet and the myspace.com craze has started, it is pretty easy to get publicity. I'm gonna tell you a few ways to use your myspace account to get publicity. First you have to have your music for sale. Try CDbaby.com or lulu.com, cafepress.com. All of these sites have the ability to sell your cd directly to your customers. Then you link your myspace to those accounts. Here are a few ways to bring traffic to your myspace. Oh! Here is a tip. Buy the URL of your group or band, lets say www.Hopeband.com and forward it to your myspace account. So when people put in your band site it takes them to your myspace. Very inexpensive and easy to do. Ok! Here it goes.
- Send press releases on your group(www.prweb.com) If you upgrade and pay for the service about $100 you can get a large distribution and around 20-30,000 people will view your press release. A great way to get an article in a website or magazine also.
- Get flyers printed up and hand them out on the street with your band url on it.
- Take professional photos with you and your group(post on website)
- Network with other bands and models, actors, entertainers on myspace
- Have a goal of how many people your gonna network with everyday. Try to network with people that have things in common with you. Same music, clothing style, clubs etc......
- Buy an industry contact list. You can get them from alot of places just put music industry contacts in google and you should be able to find a few lists.
- Send press kits to your contacts, that means a pic, bio,CD or DVD and some articles and a business card inside a folder.
- Get involved with community activities and give free performances for kids in parks, give to the less fortunate. Make this a priority in your career and that will solidify your success.
