Very Little Space

Most people have a lot of trouble finding places to put their shoes. Some have them strewn them across the living room floor only to be scolded by their wife or parents to pick them up. But, where should they put them? The closet is usually at full capacity, having been filled up with every bit of clothing and other things that are stored away. The only solution is to get the closet organized. This means, making sure every shirt and pair of pants is hung up. This also means that everything stored away is carefully placed in the shelves above the closet, to keep them from cluttering up the everyday space. As for the shoes, these should be placed on a shoe rack. These nifty little racks are great for compact storage of that assortment of shoes many of us have.

Making Simple Shoe Racks

There are several types of shoe racks available for someone in need of them. However, it is often true that when purchasing a shoe rack it is rare to find one that is adequate for one's needs. More than likely, there will be more cubbyholes for shoes you need, or not enough. The best way to solve this problem is by making a shoe rack. Now there are several types of shoe racks one can make, all ranging from simple and rustic to more difficult and sophisticated. For instance, one can simple make one of these items out of cardboard. By simply purchasing some strips of cardboard, carefully cut the strips into two long strips and several short ones. By pasting the two strips together by the shorter ones, this will serve a simple shoe rack for your closet. (You can even make racks to store your baby clothes and baby shoes).

Convenience and Sophistication

Another type of easy shoe rack to make is a rope shoe rack. The advantage of this type is that it is easily stored when not in use. All one has to do is buy a very thick rope, preferably one made of some sort of hemp. Then, cut the rope into two long strips, like the cardboard, and several smaller strips. With the longer strips, fasten these together with the smaller ones and fasten them in a way that will hold shoes. And, you have a shoe rack. The last type of shoe rack is one that will take more skill. These involve cutting wood, using electric tools that will carefully cut the wood into usable portions. With this method, you will have a more sophisticated looking shoe rack, but it is more difficult. There are many home improvement books available that will take you step by step through the process of making your own shoe rack.

I certainly can't see myself making ANYTHING based on the descriptions. Tie rope so will hold shoes? Huh?
