My Space can be a relatively safe place for older teens and young adults to share information about themselves and to meet new people. People can share their views, interests and passions.

Use of MySpace works well for younger people who don’t use e-mail very often but enjoy instant messaging.

MySpace provides young people a site where they can give and receive feedback.

Cons: MySpace can be dangerous because there are sexual predators who use the site to seduce young people.

Many parents are not aware of the dangers of MySpace. There are even parents who do not realize their teens have a profile on MySpace or what information may have been given.

Advertisers use MySpace as a way to make a lot of money. Some of the sites that have advertising are used in conjunction with sexual content. This means the advertisers are making money from ads that promote pornography.

MySpace tries to have controls and it has monitoring procedures in place but many things have slipped through. There are groups that promote homosexual practices as well as groups that show pornographic photos.

MySpace can not control the people who lie about their age or give other false information. It also can’t do anything about teens who are 14 and choose to correspond with people who are 10, 20 or 30 years older.

I want a myspace so bad but my parents won't let me. They don't understand its not all bad. I wish people could see through the bad side and see that its good to. I think young people should be able to have a myspace to.

i don't think myspace is safe AT ALL. the site is completely dangerous as facebook or any other social netowkring sites, but even more so because of it's popularity.

even if you don't give out personal information, some of these sexual predators can hack into the system and get your information from there. they can even find out what computer you use if they are good enough. the sexual predators and criminals are good at what they do. they know what they're doing 9 times out of 10.

i agree with most of the people complaining with the amount of pros. yes, people should be responsible with what they post. as a fact, a lot of younger kids get freaked out if they see something innapropiate (ehem... porn) and immediatly block that person. the kinds of girls that end up being kidnapped is a minority group and its really up to ones judgement. myspace is not the safest place but at the same time it it isnt the worst by far.

i believe myspace could be very dangerous, but if parents and teens want something kinda like messaging like that and still be safe. why dont we create one . A website that will be safe for all kids and still be cool and better than myspace. if anyone agrees speak up , we need a change around here

dear leanna lazzaro,

u should not get a myspace! if u want to take a chance of getting hurt, found, or taken. then i repeat do not get a myspace.if u look on google of all stories of how many kids were raped or killed there are several pages of horrific stories . please hear me out, u need to stay protected.
