What is a New Years Resolution; well it is a promise a pledge or an oath you make to your self at the beginning or start of a new year. A person making a pledge as such will vow to either give up or start doing something that will help better their lives or that of others. In most cases of a New Years Resolution being made you will find that it is more times broken than being adhered too. It takes a lot of will power for some people who decide to give up on some of the things they love most in life like abstaining from (cancer sticks) i.e. smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol or even eating chocolate. New Years Resolutions which involve any of the three mentioned above will most certainly prove to be a very healthy promise, pledge or oath you can make to yourself. They say where there is a will there is a way, so make sure you have the will to make your will power stronger to overcome any thoughts of succumbing to temptation.
My New Years Resolution is not to make one in the first place, and then it can not be broken. If you think on these lines then think again because, no matter what your decision is on what to give up or change in your life - is no doubt something you are not happy with. So in a way it makes sense to reconsider to stick to the rules and make your life and the environment a healthier place to live and more importantly keeping you in healthy state of well being.
1 If Your New Years Resolution is to give up smoking then this will certainly make a big difference to your life and more importantly your body – for example healthier lungs to breathe in the spring air on its way – being able to run in a marathon without out huffing and puffing – and more pennies in your pocket to spend on more important things like joining a fitness class. And by avoiding nicotine for the next 12 months then you have contributed to cleaning up the environment from further pollution and not inflicting passive smoking onto others.
Secondly alcohol slowly kills and destroys the liver so therefore breaking this New Years Resolution is not recommended. And thirdly giving up on chocolate is quite understandably considered a good reason to break your commitment you made to yourself in the way of your New Years Resolution.
Heaven forbid why on earth would any one in there right mind want to give up eating chocolate when it tastes so good, could obesity have anything to do with your decision, if so, then more the reason to keep and stick to your pledge. Excess fat gained from eating chocolate is not good for you at all. However candy does not have to be cut out all together. You owe it to yourself to lose weight to live a healthier lifestyle - so why not make a New Years Resolution i.e. join a slimming club where you will be guided on how to slim down and still eat chocolate within moderation. By doing this – your sweet tooth is not neglected or neither is your health.
Make your New Years Resolution this year to be a New Years Resolution that you will not break.
