These savory buns are really easy to make and they won’t last too long so maybe you better make extra.
10 bacon strips, diced
1/3 cup onion, chopped
1 (16 oz.) package hot roll mix
1 egg, lightly beaten
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a skillet, cook bacon and onion over medium heat. Cook until onion is nice and tender and bacon is crisp; drain both on paper towels.
Prepare hot roll mix following package directions. On a floured surface knead dough until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place dough into a greased bowl. Turn dough once over to grease the top. Cover bowl and let dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, about 40 minutes.
Divide the dough into 18 sections. Prepare a floured surface. Roll each dough piece into a 5-inch circle. Add 1 tablespoon of bacon filling onto the top of each circle. Fold dough around filling. Shape each dough piece into a little loaf and seal the edges by pinching.
Place each loaf onto greased baking sheets, seam side down. Cover loosely with plastic wrap that has been coated with nonstick cooking spray. Let loaves rise in a warm place, about 20-30 minutes.
Brush the tops of each loaf with egg and bake 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown. When done, remove loaves from pans and onto wire racks for cooling. Serve warm.
