10 Steps To Slash Your Grocery Bill

Do you have a budget for how much you spend on food each week?

Do you shop for groceries without a shopping list?

Do you write up a 7 days menu plan?

If the answer is no to these questions then you need to follow these steps so that you can save at least $25AUD -$50AUD per person a week.

1. Set yourself a budget on what you will spend each week on food and other items and stick to it. Some weeks you will need more items than others so any left over money on the lesser weeks put aside for the more expensive weeks.

2. Shop weekly.

3. Write a shopping list based on a 7 day menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

4. Type up a shopping list template and in pencil write the price next to each item. Then when you are writing up your weekly shopping list go through the template to see what you need.

5. Budget how much cash you require to put aside for fresh items during the week like bread, milk and vegetables.

6. Add up your shopping list to find out if you are within your budget.

7. Blown your budget? Delete treats or unnecessary items. Choose a cheaper meal than what is on the menu. Check that your budget is reasonable.

8. Go shopping and stick to your list. Don’t be tempted and be determined not to buy anything else not on your list.

9. Shop with cash. Take only the budgeted amount with you. This way you can not be tempted to spend more.

10. Make it a game. Have fun with saving. Put what you have saved using this method in a savings jar, savings account, on your credit card or wherever you wish. Keep a record of what you have saved to encourage you to keep using this method.

Follow the steps and you will save money!!!
