Custom wedding dresses are a growing trend and an affordable alternative to the designer gowns featured in the nation’s leading bridal magazines and exclusive salons.

Custom bridal gown (Talhia I) cost 85% less than designer original it was inspired by

Many Brides have fallen in love with a couture bridal gown, but can not afford or justify spending $3,000-$10,000 for the gown of their dreams. Custom made bridal gowns make it possible for Brides to achieve their dreams on a budget.

The results are customized couture creations that exude celebrity glamour and runway style at a fraction of the original price.

Brides can easily achieve the high-fashion look for less when sticking to a few guidelines. Price is greatly influenced by the fabric choice, design complexity and simplicity of beadwork or embroidery. Silks will always be pricier than polyester blends. There are many high-grade polyester blends on the market today. Most will still achieve the appearance and drape desired without the additional expense.

Identifying cost-effective alternatives, such as polyester taffeta versus silk taffeta or clear beading versus crystals, can help reduce the price of a gown considerably. Many Brides do not recognize the extra expenses that alterations can involve with the dress of their choice. This expense is often eliminated if not greatly reduced, with custom gowns, as the gown is produced to the Brides’ exact measurements. Alteration expenses can easily exceed $250 for dresses typically ordered through traditional salons.

Credibility: Ask for references or check testimonials: Ask friends, family and co-workers for referrals. Be sure that you are referred to gown makers that are known for quality. What is the gown-maker’s reputation of the work quality, customer service and personal attention to detail? Inquire if beadwork is sewn or glued. There’s a big difference. Ask, if bra-padding and sewn- in crinoline are used.

Experience: Working with an experienced bridal professional who specializes in custom-made wedding attire is very important. A qualified gown maker will give you the feeling of confidence and will advise you on what will and will not work with your design and choices. They should also be knowledgeable about ideal fabric choices for your design. Ask to view their portfolio.

Pricing: Remember though internet, discount merchants and local salon prices can be reasonable and affordable, they do reflect the personal attention and expertise of your gown-maker. A custom bridal gown is a work of art. One can expect a superior quality custom garment to range anywhere from $500-2000 depending on several factors. As such, cheaper is not necessarily better. Be concerned for custom garments that are considerably inexpensive. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Flexibility: Can’t find any design ideas or examples? Most credible dress makers will be happy to work with a pattern too. Or combine elements from several photographs into one exquisite design. Often a plain Butterick or McCall’s pattern can become something magical with luxurious fabrics or embroidery accents. Many of today’s pattern companies have designs from bridal classics like Vera Wang and more. Your dressmaker should be able to recommend ways to customize or tweak the design just for you.

Having a wedding gown custom made is not as expensive as you may think often prices are a fraction of original designer prices. Brides looking to be truly unique or wishing for that “designer-inspired" gown can now have their dreams come true by achieving couture glamour without the price tag!
