A man of immense power in the world and a professed Christian recently stated, “Making Money always trumps peace“. Now, as a news show pointed out, that sums up the state of affairs in the world. You see “Making money has only one allegiance", that’s in making more! Rhetorically of course, if this is his belief then presumably this possibly could be considered that persons God? Oh I know this person is a professed believer and he mingles with the elite of all religious sects. However, I’m confused.

Lets consider this for a moment. If the meek shall inherit the earth then how can peace be trumped by making money? Would not bringing Gods kingdom to earth be foremost in a believers mind? Could that type of belief possibly influence decisions that could impact thousands or millions negatively? Rhetorically one might develop an opinion those decisions might not be based on Christian principals but possibly profit motivated?

So, if people profess to be followers of Christ or any other religious belief then how can they place making money ahead of peace? Rhetorically one could conclude that it isn’t about illegal immigration, lost jobs or outsourcing, or keeping the law, it really isn’t about peace and it certainly isn’t about God or Duty, Honor, Country - period! It can’t be because that which is first is making more MONEY! He said it and he evidently meant it. He was not confused or meant to say something else. He even went on to elaborate on it to clarify that statement. However, as stated above, in a Christian’s perspective one might think the two just do not mix when you profess Jesus first.

Now let me clarify that is not to say making money is bad nor a sin if it is done with compassion and mercy and with the interests of people first and not “the bottom line" only. No, I have said this many times. But it is when making money precedes all else and that is the first goal in your life. When making money trumps all else then in my opinion poverty, disease, greed, homelessness, war, drugs, exploitation, ignoring and breaking law and all forms of misery take a back seat to profit.

Now for those of you like me that get frustrated the truth has finally been said openly. Rhetorically speaking could it be that this is at least part of the answer to everything happening in our nations and the world? Perhaps, just perhaps it is the cause?

Now my opinion it is not that we don’t understand what is happening. The fact is we are powerless to alter course because the majority in power are wealthy, or making money and getting wealthy and money is first evidently in their opinion and there are few to no alternatives for change. In fact and unfortunately, the new buzz word of the century, the “cat is out of the bag" and it is too late.

One wonders when statements are made like this just where is the cry from our religious leaders? Just where is the cry that sin is being condoned? Did Christ not speak out about it? Does not His Word speak to it? Then how can any believer, much less those who preach, ignore it? Rhetorically, could it be the darkness of this century? Could it be that they share the objective? Could it be part of the darkness to enter the church?

So my fellow Americans, while you search and ponder and think and consider just what is happening understand that they have evidently placed their "god" above that they profess to worship? Why do I make that statement? Well certainly they said it and I do believe what Jesus said, where your heart lies there is your God. That is so simple, yet so hard for man.

No wonder that Jesus Himself stated it is almost impossible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Just look to the parable and you have your answer. Pray for these people as you do for all of us sinners.

Finally, always keep thin in mind. Believers know there will not be peace until the Lord returns. Now in my opinion what was said is just one more confirmation of Gods Word that the time is even at the door.

Robert,
Very insightful. As my father-in-law states, "Just follow the dollar if you want to know what's going on in today's political climate." Many people, particularly Christians, tend to pretend their God is who they worship rather than the dollar. Look at some of our televangelists. We need more Billy Grahams, preachers with integrity! Anyway, you made some excellent points. Thanks.

I sincerely appreciate your kind comments. Your father in law is a wise man and not becuase he agrees with my opinion. Sometimes we want to believe that this is not the issue. However, the Lord says you will know His followers by their deeds and heart and not what they profess. I look at all who claim to be preachers and followers to speak out when necessary. Are we not to go to our brethern when they fall and admonish them to change? That is out of love for them and the truth. God Bless!
