Anyone who has suffered from the discomfort and pain of gout would be a little bit crazy not to want a "Magic Pill" to relieve them of their gout symptoms. But this way of thinking often leads to relying on pharmaceutical drugs instead of finding out how to cure gout with natural gout cures.

Natural gout solutions come in many shapes, and are discussed in greater depth on our web site and blog, but there is one important part of a natural cure that is key to recovery from the painful symptoms of gout quickly - And this is to make changes to your eating habits.

It is easy to underestimate the potential problems that can be caused by gout. As well as swelling, stiffness and pain, gout can lead to kidney stones, which will aggravate the gout symptoms further as they can badly effect the effectiveness of the kidney's functionds in removing uric acid from the body, and this in turn leads to gout problems getting worse.

It does seem ironic that gout is actually caused by a natural process, the breakdown of a natural substance that is already present in the tissues of the body - Purine.

Purine is broken down in the bloodstream into uric acid. If we have too much uric acid in the body, it starts to crystalize and gather in the spaces between joints, and this then causes the pain and stiffness associated with gout.

So, the simplest and most natural way to reduce the levels of uric acid crystals, is to reduce the level of purine in the body. And if the kidneys are performing properly this can be achieved by reducing the amount of purine consumed in your diet.

Eating foods that are low in purine, and avoiding foods that are very high in purine can quickly reduce the levels of uric acid in the body, and bring welcome relief faster. Although, it is important to remember, if you want the effects to be lasting then you need to moderate your intake of foods high in purine from a while after the pain and stiffness has gone to ensure the reduction in gout symptoms is lasting.

The residual uric acid levels in your body could still be high for a while, and it may take some time for the kidney’s to rebalance the body.

Here is a list of some of the worst “offenders" when it comes to increasing the purine levels in the body.

Foods High in Purine include:

Most Ofal (Liver, Kidney’s, Heart, etc)
Meat Extracts
Gravies
Shellfish and Fish
Dried Beans

A more comprehensive list can be found on our webs site, as well as other information on natural gout cures.

So, if you know someone with gout, or are suffering from gout symptoms yourself, and where wondering how to cure gout with natural gout cures, then simple changes to your diet by reducing foods that are high in purine can be an easy first step.
