A Word of Advice

To young people reading this article, listen intently to what I have to say. I was 36 years old when my father died and 48 when my mother died. I have had problems with my personal life through these years. However, in my situation it seems it took me a long time to grow-up. I was never that close to my parents, and I have no one to blame but myself, I was selfish, thinking mainly about myself than those who did everything possible to try to help me.

I know every one has a saying such as “I wish I could go back in time and make it right this time." The only problem is we can’t rely on these science fiction movies with their inventions that bring us back in time. Now that I believe I have finally grown up and matured, I know if my parents were living today I could show both of them the man they could be proud of, I would have so much to say to them.

"My mother and father on their 50th. wedding anniversary"

I’ll make this article brief and hope some of my readers will benefit from it and not make the same mistakes I made. I know now I am the man they wanted to see all along. Only wish they were here today.

David, excellent commentary. Perhaps that is why we all of a sudden find ourselves "old'. With it comes wisdom and experience. I however, have found many young looking for older people to learn from. They seek you out for advice and one can make an impact. Many like you came from and make it on their own. I only know you from your writings but perhaps you just might be that "old" guy who helps some young people get back on track? I find them hungry for honesty and integrity. The problem with writing is you are at the wim of the editors agenda. If you reach one person you are successful. Best wishes.
