Home window treatments and curtains are a dependable way to transform interior home decor - offering versatility in contemporary styles and designer fabrics. Use well-constructed window treatment ideas to call attention to the attractive elements of a window, such as the view . Or cover up less than desirable characteristics, such as a window that is too short or too long or not quite square. If the view is the neighbor's brick wall, use a curtain that can become a decorating feature in the room.

For the bathroom or kitchen unlined curtains in easy care, machine washable material work best. You may want to wash them often to prevent mildew and mold and to keep them fresh smelling and clean.

Extra humidity in the bathroom and the grease and dirt from cooking in the kitchen, means curtains will need to be washed on a regular basis.

Sew or buy curtains that are easy to take down so that laundering them becomes less of a chore. Curtains that are hung from a wood pole or metal rod by tabs, rings or a rod pocket casing are one example of easy to hang curtains.  A casual look that can be drawn back by hand is a fashionable choice for the informal decor of a bathroom.

Cafe tiers are just right since they cover only the lower half of the window allowing in sunlight while at the same time maintaining privacy.

Curtains made with panels that are shirred onto poles or rods at both the top and the bottom of the window are another option. This style of curtain is not normally opened and closed so if you are looking for a stationary treatment that provides privacy, this is an option to consider.

Look at curtain styles with swags, tiers, scalloped edges or embroidery. You may want French country toile, gingham or lace. Changing curtains to suit your mood is an option since curtains are some of the more inexpensive ways to update home decor.

For more formal areas in the home such as dining and living rooms, custom window treatments and lined drapes provide an extravagant look. A lining allows the curtain to drape nicely - it also has insulating properties and is better able to filter out light for better room darkening. If tie backs are used make sure to add extra inches to the measurements - depending on how much material gathers above the cord.

Tab top curtain panels are a popular contemporary design whether as full length panels or designed as valances that frame windows. Rod pocket curtains sewn from lightweight lace fabrics or heavier weight velvet can be softly pleated or gathered on decorative metal curtain rods.

Hundreds of designs and styles are available from online merchants who make shopping and choosing easy from the comfort of your own home. Have your curtains delivered right to your door.
