The Goal is to change a baby's diaper
This is for the new dads that need HELP!
Print out and post above changing table or carry it in your wallet, that would be funny wouldn't it. But caring.
Not sure what to do? Well let me help you as I have lots of experience with 2 little boys who are still in diapers.
TIME NEEDED is approx 10 minutes depending
Situations Home or Car
1. Things needed before we start: (the most important items are
in red, you can get by with these if you have to)
- Clean diaper, cloth or disposable
- if using cloth, need rubber cover for outside
Of diaper/safety pins, unless Velcro is on
Cloth diapers.
- Baby wipes / wash cloth
- Garbage bag / grocery bag / if not available,
Dispose of in a garbage can somewhere
Along the way if you are in your vehicle,
DO NOT LITTER.
- Kleenex / toilet paper
- if you want, baby powder, not necessary
- Vaseline if needed for sore bummy / diaper rash

2. (I am going to describe changing a baby in a
Home environment).
Lay baby on his/her back on a
Changing table (strap baby down on table
With safety straps), on a bed, or on the floor
And place a towel or changing mat
Under him/her.
3. Remove clothing needed to get access to diaper. (If
Have pee on them or poop remover them all).
4. Unpin, or stick diaper tabs and see what kind
Of mess you have to clean, and then just lay
The flap of the diaper you just moved back down
On top and leave their so you don't get pee'd
On or pee'd around.
5. Now as quick as possible, grab baby easily around
Their ankles, holding both of their ankles in one hand, and
Lift their bum off the mat and dirty diaper.
Remove dirty diaper.
6. Wipe bum with Kleenex / toilet paper if poopy
And get most of it off as possible, then use
Wet wipe to clean up remainder of mess,
And the same with just a wet baby, use
Only have to use a baby wipe and clean
The pee'd area.
7. Have your diaper close by, open it up and lay
It flat under baby’s bottom.
8. Fold 1/2 the diaper up thru baby's legs and
Stick both sides closed, or pin sides closed,
If using pins be careful not to stick the baby,
You should put your fingers in behind where
The pin is going to go thru.
9. Good Job, now dress the baby and you’re finished.
10. Don't forget to put dirty diaper in diaper pail, or in a plastic
Bag tied up and disposed of into the nearest garbage can.
It's pretty much the same if you are in a vehicle, just a little more cramped for space. Just be patient and it will all work out just great and you and baby should be smiling soon.
