I must admit that I have been questioning God’s attitude. I have been struggling when I read the bible. It seemed the promises in his word didn’t connect with my experiences of what his word said. Like: Where two or more are gathered, there am I in their midst ( Mt. 13:47 ); or, His kingdom coming on earth like it is in heaven ( Mt. 6:10 ) ; or, if you ask anything in my name, I will do it ( Jn. 14:14 ); How about: praying for the sick and they getting healed ( Ps. 103:3 ), salvation ( 1Ti. 2:4 ), or his presence to lead and guide us ( Jn. 14:16-17; Jn. 14:26 ). These are just examples of a few things that aren’t matching up with Jesus’ words.

I have great news! God is in a good mood today!

You see, when Jesus said to pray that his kingdom come on earth like it is in heaven, his heart is for this to happen. When he said that he would be in our midst, he didn’t lie. When he said if we ask anything in his name, he will do it. When he said we could pray for the sick and they would be healed, they will. When he said people would get salvation, they will. When he said his presence would lead and guide us, it will.

So why is it that that these things don’t seem to be happening?

I think with me the reason has been that my heart hasn’t been “in-sink“ with the heart of my Lord. I have been angry with Jesus for the seeming lies in his word. I haven’t been a co-laborer with Christ ( 1Cor. 3:9 ). I have not been in a place of ownership in the kingdom of God . I didn’t diligently seek Jesus’ heart. I was content to halfheartedly seek his will. But mostly, down deep, I didn’t see that Jesus’ desire was to have his kingdom come onto the earth just as it is in heaven ( Lk. 11:2 ).

God is in a good mood today! And he likes us!
