I’ve been a single parent now for over 11 years, bringing up my two children on a very low income here in the UK. I personally found this guide particularly empowering because it probes into specific diseases avoiding medical or technical jargon and delivers information without tarnishing the flow of the information given, making it a very compelling and interesting read.
The guide is very well organised and the information is superbly presented throughout with complete contents page, with a useful glossary of medical terms and chapters specifying specific diseases which means that it is easy to find the information required as opposed to having to search for information aimlessly. Common Childhood Diseases is a valuable resource for not only parents but everyone who wants to know about both the world of Modern Medicine and the ancient medical Sciences of Ayurveda, whether as a parent (or to be parent) or simply as an interested reader.
The authors have created a down-to-earth and informative guide that has beautiful full-colour diagrams and photographs, and above all, it is practical and it is one book that I feel will help answer all those nagging little questions that plague all parents, as well as providing relief, knowing that what you have before you is a comprehensive yet a very well delivered book that shares practical suggestions reinforced by tips throughout on the do's and don'ts supporting the clearly written and accessible text.
I am sure you will agree, for most parents, or parents to be, the potential minefield of simply trying to cope with illnesses and diseases like whooping cough, measles, diphtheria, chicken pox, rubella, TB and meningitis, to name but a few, plus the current daunting issues towards vaccinations and the many immunisation programs available. These ongoing concerns can be very difficult areas for anyone to handle, however this current guide helps negotiate these matters successfully. The authors have indeed assembled all the information needed in a most beautiful and eloquent way with their straightforward, down to earth approach, with lots of useful and helpful advice.
