As we all know, weddings are really expensive.
It's not uncommon to take a loan out to pay for it all- Big mistake!
You CAN have a great wedding without going bankrupt- The key is to save money wherever you can.
There are many areas to save money- on the dress, the wedding bouquet, and more, but one of the best ways to save money is by making your own wedding favors.
This is a great way to save money, but it gets even better!
With a bit of creativity, you can combine your wedding favors with your wedding table decorations, and really save a fortune!
Just follow the 4 easy steps below to make a posy bowl wedding favour which doubles as a wedding table decoration...
You will need...
- 1 large posy bowl.
- 15 lollipops.
- 1 box of roses chocolates. ( to save even more money you make the chocolates yourself )
- 9 silk flowers ( Choose flowers that match the wedding bouquet)
- 3 bunches of .18 gauge wire.
- 1 dried oasis brick.
Step 1: Preparation...
Cut the dried oasis brick so that it fits into the posy bowl. You want the brick to sit just above the rim of the bowl.
Wire and tape the chocolates. You don't have to do this to the lollipops as they are on sticks and can be pushed into the oasis quite easily.
The same applies to the flowers- just push the stem straight into the oasis. If you are using fresh flowers, you will need to use a wet oasis.
Step 2: Arrange the lollipops into the oasis...
Trim your lollipop sticks to about half their size. This will make it easier for all the candy and flowers to fit into the oasis. If you don't do this then the oasis may become overcrowded, which will make it hard when trying to push everything into it.
Take a lollipop and push it into the center of the oasis. Then place two more to the left and right of this first lollipop.
Put four lollipops into the sides of the oasis so that you have a "clock face" with the lollipops at 12,3,6,9 o'clock.
Now just place the rest of lollipops into the oasis, making sure not to have them to close together.
Step 3: Arrange the chocolates into the oasis...
Now take the wired and taped chocolates, and trim the wires to about half their size. Then push the chocolates into the oasis in between the lollipops. Push the chocolates in deep enough so that there is no wire showing.
Step 4: Fill in gaps...
Fill in any remaining gaps.
You can fill them in with anything, such as flowers, or figure-of-eight bows.
That's it! All done!
Easy, wasn't it?
One thing you need to make sure of- make sure there is enough candy for everyone at the table. Guests may get upset if they miss out on their wedding favor!
This posy bowl works great for the wedding favors, and if you're happy with how it looks, you won't have to buy any wedding table decorations either.
