Check out customer service beforehand
Send an email to the gold broker's customer support email or hit the live chat on their website. If they try to answer your questions and take care of your concerns before you've bought from them, that's a good indication they'll deliver on their promises when you do buy gold from them.

Returns or late delivery shouldn't be an issue if you followed tips 1 and 2 above but, if you are going to take a chance with a smaller company, make sure you check out their return policies. Many offer a money back guarantee if they can't deliver your gold when they promise the gold but some give you no guarantee at all. You don't want to be stuck waiting for a gold delivery that's weeks late because the company doesn't have enough supply on your server with no way to get your money back.
