Tonsil stones can create a condition known as Halitosis, which is a stubborn bad breath and taste disorder many people suffer from.

Tonsil stones, also called tonsilloliths, are those nasty whitish/yellow colored, foul-smelling, lumps on your tonsils. These tonsil stones are caused by an accumulation of sulfur-producing bacteria and debris that becomes lodged in the tonsils. This debris, which includes mucous from post nasal drip, putrifies in the back of your throat, and collects in what are called the tonsil crypts. These tonsil crypts are small divots or pockets which appear on the surface of the tonsils, in which the tonsil stones may accumulate.

When this debris combines with volatile sulfur compounds (VSC's) which are produced by the anaerobic bacteria beneath the surface of your tongue, along with the tonsil stones, you develop the condition known as Halitosis, more commonly known as bad breath!

Now, if you do not have your tonsils, then you will NOT (except for rare exceptions) experience tonsil stones. However, I am NOT saying that you should run out and get your tonsils removed. As we get older, tonsillectomies become increasingly dangerous. Aside from that, even if you have your tonsils removed, you will most likely still have bad breath. Why is that?

The sulfur producing bacteria breeding beneath the surface of your tongue, integral to the creation of those tonsil stones, are the most likely candidates to cause bad breath! So, even if you have your tonsils removed, unless you remove or hinder those anaerobic bad breath causing bacteria, your friends may still exhibit those tell-tale signs that you have bad breath!

Fortunately, getting rid of tonsil stones without surgery, is not that difficult...

There are a few select products that I recommend you use that will effectively eliminate tonsil stones without unnecessary surgery. What you need is something that will neutralize the anaerobic sulfur-producing bacteria on contact. For this I recommend a simple combination of AktivOxigen Tablets, Nasal Sinus Drops, and an occasional use of an Oxygenating Spray (http://www.therabreath.com/docs/tonsilstones.asp).

Keep in mind that following a regimen of using oxygenating oral care products, like toothpastes and mouthwashes, along with a tongue scraper, which effectively neutralizes the anaerobic bad breath causing bacteria from the very back of the tongue, will produce optimal results - stopping tonsil stones from ever forming again! Based on clinical tests conducted at the California Breath Clinics located in San Francisco and Los Angeles, most people following this formula reported a significant reduction or complete elimination of tonsil stones.

(sorry for my bad english...im italian) Hi, i have resolved the problem building a pipe who sprays water directly to my tonsils. the pressure is not high, to avoid to damage the tonsils, i have connected this pipe to the tap of my bathroom and i can regulate the amount of water that go to my tonsils. At the beginning was a bit difficult because is not simple to control the stimulus to vomit, but after few times, i learned to control it, and now im able to wash all my tonsils when i want. I repeat this 1 time a day or 1 time each 2 days and i have seen that tonsil stones after i removed the first times, are not anymore in my troath. My breath has not anymore a bad smell, but to prevent bad breath is also important to wash the thongue when you wash your teeth. This is what i do to eliminate bad breath: wash teeth 3 times a day, use dental floss 1 time a day, wash tongue after i wash teeth and 3 times a week i wash my tonsil with the pipe ( the first times i have washed them every day, until they was clean). I hope it will help u, bye, Frank.

Hey Frank, thanks for your tip. I'll give it a shot sometime!
I've had tonsil stones ever since childhood. The two things that have changed in recent times are 1) I learned that they were tonsil stones and were a cause of bad breath and 2) I've learned a trick to remove them, which I will elaborate upon. This isn't a fool proof method so don't get your hopes high. Use the following steps:
1) You need to learn to use suction over your tonsils (similar to the suction that allows you to draw mucus through your nasal track).
2) Bend down and turn your head sideways, in the direction in which you have your tonsil stone and then use suction. For instance, if you have a tonsil olith on the right tonsil, bend down and turn your head to the righ and try suction. Sounds strange but it works. Bending over gets gravity on your side. As for turning to the side, I discovered that purely by trial and error. Hope that helps!

Best,
Pete

i hate tonsile stink balls. i use a rubber EAR wax remover to get rid of mine. i squeez it stick it under warm running water and let it fill up. then i point it to the area i want to clean. and squeez. it allways takes 4-6 times per side but it really cleans them out. after that i toss some serious mouth wash in like listereen and they stay away for adleast a weeek or two.

I ordered the tonsil stone removal kit because i have trouble getting rid of these disgusting balls of horror. I figure it's worth the gamble. I just wish i knew what the success rate was. ONE UNORTHODOX METHOD: If you like hardcore genres of alternative rock, and you scream and belt out grunge, you'll pop 'em out. You have to do it often though

I tried the formula and it not only left me with a sore throat for 2 weeks but I was also extremely nauseated every time I took it! The subsequent vomiting led to more debris stuck in my tonsils and worsened my halitosis. This is the worst product ever. No wonder it is not approved by the ADA!

I've had the tonsil stone prob for the past 6 months. My Doc has recommended combining 50% of Mouthwash with 50% of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide & gargle 2-3 times a day. Slow process, however, it has reduced. I'm informed that by my next appointment 2 months later it should be gone. Hopefully.....

I've had tonsil balls all my life. I think the little stink bombs are GREAT!! I use them against my freinds to get what i want. When they see me digging in the back of my throat, they go a running!! I recommend keeping them if you get them and find a way for them to help in a positive way, as i have..
