Acne is a horrible experience to go through. Then, after you're done breaking out, acne leaves you with dark or reddish scars!
I have had to go through this myself. It took me awhile but I finally found a technique that works. The magic secret is basically to exfoliate the skin, then heal the skin. However, if you want your skin to look good, you must go about this the right way:
Step 1: Prevent future breakouts. Once you clear those pimples up, you'll want to keep them way because the less blemishes you have, the less scars you'll have to take care of.
Step 2: Exfoliate every 2-3 days. Do not use harsh chemical exfoliants like salycic acid to exfoliate your skin. These formulas tend to irritate the skin causing it to look more inflammed than it normally would. I found the best method to be GENTLE manual exfoliation. The most effective & economical is wither sand or cornmeal. I prefer cornmeal because it's much cleaner! Mix this with some liquid soap (like Dr. Bronner's liquid castille soap) and some water. Prepare a little a time, to make it easier to handle. Apply the scrub to your skin in a soft circular motion. Don't work on any one area too long. Remember, you do not want to irritate your skin.
Step 3: Heal the skin with pure natural vitamin E oil. Real vitamin E oil will be brownish in color, not clear/yellow. This skin friendly vitamin will do wonderful things for your appearance. The 1st application wll be the one to dramatically reduce scar visibility. To apply, make sure skin is clean & dry. For optimal results, apply after exfoliation. Spread this thick oil on anywhere you want better looking, softer skin. Make sure to cover all acne scars completely.
Step 4: Rinse skin in the morning. Do not wash with soap or cleanser.
Doing this regularly will definitely help your acne scars to fade faster. Skin heals itself while you're sleeping so use these techniques before bed for the best results. You're on your way to smooth & healthy skin!

Hi I currently have a lot of acne scars and have recently changed to a new face wash that contains salycic acid and recently my acne scars have become much more red and irritated looking. I was wonder along with this step by step routine, what face wash did you use? I;m looking for something gentle and that will not wear off in a few years (i.e. proactiv) because I was using Proactiv for so long, it simply stopped working for my skin. Please help, I'm starting college in the fall and I need a stable face wash routine. Respond to this comment

To Nancy from CA.
I can recomment two products. The Clarisonic changed my life. The $200 price seams like a lot but it is worth it. For over a year I was told to buy but waited and waited. Well, I was a fool. It totally changed my skin. The cost isn't really that much if I take into account all the money I've spent over the years on other products. You can also use any face wash with it, but not scrubs.
The second product I use is my Pangea face wash. I get it at Whole Foods, but you can get it online. It is all natural and for all skin types. It takes my make-up off and makes your skin so soft. I hope these suggestions help.
Hey what happened to the link to your story about how you were cured of acne? I wanted to see the product you used because I can't remember the name. Will you put it back up?
Okay so my face is really oily with red acne marks/scars. This gets me so depressed and i was wondering what i could use.. Does vitamin e oil really work for my skin condition?

i do it every night... i just put a small amount of vitamin e oil on my face after exfoliation.. i use maxi-peel cleanser as my exfoliator... but i am used to wash it with a facial cleanser every morning.. hahaha.. now i know its wrong to wash my face a cleanser ever morning.. i got a lesson. i just wash it with purely water... and i will use my cleanser just every night, before i use the maxi-peel and vitamin e oil..

I have had sever acne in the past and was left with unattractive scars on my face.
I purchased the Dr. Max Powers Scar Serum from their website online - it was medium expensive for a scar cream - because I needed a solution. The Max Powers Scar Cream does work well, but don't expect to see results instantly. You need to apply it regularly and consistently for about a month in order to see results. It really does work though.
My scars are much more toned down and less visible.
